Job Title: Psychologist
Department: Health & Wellness
Status: 1 year, may be extended
Salary: Levels 10-11 ($66,595 to $85,552 per annum)
Closing Date: October 29, 2023 JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Psychologist provides assessment and service provision to residents of Carcross and surrounding area. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Examine and assess behaviour, diagnose behavioural, emotional and cognitive disorders, counsel clients and provide therapy
  • Help clients manage physical illness and disorders
  • Counsel individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development and adjustment, and offer mediation services
  • Use standard psychological tests for assessment
  • Plan intervention programs; involving family and other supports identified by the client
  • Conduct program evaluation, compile statistics, develop community reports on health needs, and complete reporting requirements
  • Deliver presentations within the community and great Yukon
  • Provide consultation services to government and other organizations, as required
  • Maintain confidential records including contact notes, assessments, intake/closing documents, various consents and confidentiality forms; which may be subject to regular file reviews with supervisor
  • Work closely with Health and Wellness and Family Council; and other traditional knowledge keeper to incorporate cultural sensitivity into all interactions with citizens
  • Other related duties
QUALIFICATIONS (Candidate application/resumes should clearly demonstrate their related qualifications as selection for further consideration will be based on the information provided)
  • Bachelor or Master of Psychology Degree,
  • Experience working with First Nations,
  • Experience dealing with issues pertaining to the protection of children and families,
  • Experience with several treatment modalities (family systems therapy, group and individual therapy)
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, classification and diagnosis,
  • Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history with Residential Schools, loss of culture and community healing,
  • Knowledge of current trends, developments and issues in mental health services and programming including assessment, interventions and support services,
  • Ability to design and deliver individual and group treatment programs for a wide range of mental health and trauma issues,
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary healing program and make appropriate use of other community resources.
  • Maintain professional competency on an ongoing basis by continued readings (professional journals, self-directed study), attending conferences/courses, etc.
  • Competency working with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Obtain and maintain registration with a regulatory body of competent jurisdiction to the modalities used in session (proof of registration must be confirmed within three months of hire)
  • Maintain the strictest of confidentiality at all times
  • Sign and abide by the C/TFN Code of Ethics
  • Valid Class 5 Yukon Drivers\xe2\x80\x99 License
