Your Role:




Your role will have a primary focus on providing comprehensive psychological assessments to children, adolescents, and young adults. Assessments include cognitive and academic functioning, as well as complex mental health and trauma assessment, and make use of reliable, standardized, current psychometric measures. Training and experience in assessment with adults is an asset but not mandatory. A smaller portion of your role will involve providing psychotherapy to children and youth as well as support to their caregivers, using trauma-informed and evidence-based models of intervention. You may also provide consultation to interdisciplinary live-in and day treatment programs for children and youth. You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary setting, as well as a highly supportive, knowledgeable, and collegial team of psychologists. You may provide supervision to psychology trainees such as practicum students. You will work with and consult to community organizations and relevant service sectors such as Family and Children's Services of Waterloo Region, local schools, and possibly, youth justice service providers. You may consult to agency programs and leaders regarding best practices, program design, and program evaluation. This may include providing training and educational sessions for agency staff about mental health topics. You will have professional development and training opportunities to continue to further your knowledge and skills. Regular peer consultation will also be available to you. You will work within an agency that is strongly committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppression, and will have the opportunity to embed these into your work as well as engage in continued learning.

our Talents and Experience:




A Doctoral degree in psychology and registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behavioral Analysts of Ontario. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working with children and adolescents who are involved with multiple service providers. Supervision from a registered Psychologist will be available for selected candidate/s if they are in the process of becoming registered with CPBAO. Experience and registration or eligibility for registration to work with adults as well is an asset but not required. The ability to work within an agency with an interdisciplinary approach. Encouraged to maintain membership within their professional association.
