Based in Sudbury, Ontario, Compass is the Lead Agency for child & youth mental health services for the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Psychological Associate will provide a broad range of psychological services (i.e. assessment, treatment, consultation, and research) for clients (including those with developmental disabilities) and their families.

RESPONSABILITIES:



Conduct psychological assessments (i.e., use of psychological measures, behavioural observations, and case history analysis). Provide individual therapy, family therapy and group therapy to clients and their families. Provide counselling services to clients and families. Provide psychological consultation to Compass staff and community partners working with children, youth and families requiring mental health intervention. Provide supervision to graduate students who wish to attain clinical experience in working with a wide range of children, adolescents and their families. Participate in, and conduct research with, children, adolescents and their families, as part of professional development. Participate in various internal and external committees to improve the quality of care and treatment for clients and families. Provide consultation and education to other professionals, community partners and groups, regarding mental health issues and prevention for children, youth and families. Abide by the professional responsibilities and expectations of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
In addition to the duties, of the Psychological Associate, the Lead Hand shall:

Supervise non-registered psychology personnel in both the assessment and treatment of clients as well as consultation to other staff Review new referrals of clients in need of services Assist with prioritization of cases Assist with case assignment to the Psychology Service staff Assist with case coordination Consult with referral source/community stakeholders where clarification on new referral is required Consult with referral source/community stakeholders where wait time for a new referral is longer than agreed in protocol Follow-up on all enquiries from clients/families waiting Participate in community protocol development

QUALIFICATIONS :



Postgraduate level degree in Psychology (M.A.) required. Registered as a Psychological Associate in the Province of Ontario. Minimum of two years' experience providing psychological services to children and youth with a wide range of mental health problems and/or global developmental disabilities. Knowledge of legislation governing children and adolescents is essential. Knowledge and appreciation of issues facing our diverse populations (i.e. Anishinabek cultures, Francophone, Immigrant/Refugee, LGBT2SQ, etc.). Understanding the impact of the social determinants of health on our clients' mental and developmental outcomes. Excellent communication skills, emotional maturity, patience, tact and resourcefulness are required. Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French) is an asset. The ability to relate effectively with children, adolescents and their families. Demonstrated skills in assessment, treatment, clinical supervision and consultation as well as the capacity to work independently and as a member of an inter-disciplinary team are essential. Strong ability to self-reflect and practice safe and effective use of self. Ability to deliver programs and services to children, youth and families. Capacity to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is essential Position requires the ability to work flexible hours contingent upon client needs. Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English are required. This position is a unionized position.

Le psychologue associe(e) offre une vaste gamme de services psychologiques (c.-a-d. evaluation, traitement, consultation et recherche) a la clientele (y compris les personnes ayant une deficience developpementale) ainsi qu'a leur famille.

RESPONSABILITES :



Realiser des evaluations psychologiques (c.-a-d. a l'aide de tests psychometriques, d'observations comportementales et de l'analyse des antecedents). Offrir des services de therapie individuelle, familiale et de groupe a la clientele et a sa famille. Fournir des services de counseling a la clientele et a ses proches. Offrir des services de consultation psychologique au personnel de Boussole et aux partenaires communautaires travaillant aupres des enfants, des jeunes et de leur famille ayant besoin d'une intervention en sante mentale. Assurer la supervision de personnes diplomees desirant acquerir de l'experience clinique aupres des enfants, des jeunes et de leur famille. Participer a des projets de recherche (et en mener) avec des enfants, des jeunes et leur famille dans le cadre du developpement professionnel. Sieger a divers comites internes et externes pour ameliorer la qualite des soins et des traitements destines a la clientele et aux familles. Offrir des services de consultation et de formation a d'autres professionnels, partenaires communautaires et groupes sur les enjeux de sante mentale et la prevention aupres des enfants, des jeunes et des familles. Respecter les responsabilites professionnelles et les attentes du College des psychologues de l'Ontario.

En plus des responsabilites du psychologue associe(e), la personne titulaire devra:



Superviser le personnel en psychologie non inscrit, tant pour l'evaluation et le traitement de la clientele que pour la consultation aupres du personnel. Examiner les nouvelles demandes de service de la clientele. Aider a etablir l'ordre de priorite des dossiers. Aider a l'attribution des dossiers au personnel des services psychologiques. Soutenir la coordination des dossiers. Consulter les personnes a l'origine de la demande ou les intervenants communautaires lorsqu'une clarification est necessaire. Consulter les personnes referentes ou les partenaires communautaires lorsque le delai d'attente excede les normes etablies. Assurer le suivi aupres de la clientele et des familles en attente de service. Participer au developpement de protocoles communautaires.

QUALIFICATIONS :



Maitrise (M.A.) en psychologie exigee. Etre inscrit(e) a titre de psychologue associe(e) dans la province de l'Ontario. Minimum de deux ans d'experience dans la prestation de services psychologiques aux enfants et aux jeunes vivant avec divers problemes de sante mentale et/ou des deficiences developpementales globales. Connaissance essentielle des lois touchant les enfants et les jeunes. Bonne comprehension des realites des populations diverses (p. ex., la population Anishinabek, les francophones, les personnes immigrantes, refugiees, LGBTQ2+, etc.). Connaissance de l'influence des determinants sociaux de la sante sur la sante mentale et le developpement de la clientele. Excellentes aptitudes en communication, maturite emotionnelle, patience, tact et debrouillardise. La capacite a bien communiquer a l'oral et a l'ecrit dans les deux langues officielles (francais et anglais) est un atout. Aptitude a etablir de bonnes relations avec les enfants, les jeunes et les familles. Competences averees en evaluation, en traitement, en supervision clinique et en consultation, ainsi que la capacite a travailler de facon autonome et au sein d'une equipe interdisciplinaire. Capacite d'introspection et d'utilisation securitaire et efficace de soi dans l'intervention. Aptitude a offrir des programmes et services aux enfants, aux jeunes et aux familles. Capacite essentielle a travailler de maniere autonome tout en collaborant avec une equipe multidisciplinaire. Le poste exige de la flexibilite au niveau des horaires en fonction des besoins de la clientele. Excellentes competences en communication orale et ecrite en francais et en anglais sont requises. Ce poste est syndique.
