Reporting to the Division Manager, the Psychiatric Registered Nurse II will be an integral member of the Housing Division team. The position requires specialized knowledge and expertise in the area of Mental Health and Addictions. The case manager coordinates, negotiates, and manages the care of clients experiencing chronic and persistent mental illness with complex needs. The case manager develops, implements and evaluates treatment plans for the effective, safe, and therapeutic care of clients in a community based setting in which homes provide 24 hour care through non-nursing, non-professional staff. An aging client population is creating an increase in physical health nursing, along with mental health nursing. As such, this position requires sound knowledge of many nursing areas including, but not limited to, mental health nursing, medical nursing, surgical nursing, and geriatric nursing.
In addition to the case management duties of this position, the incumbent is an active member of a multidisciplinary monitoring team which is responsible for monitoring the Community Care Homes according to the Provincial Personal Care Home Operational Standards. In addition to monitoring, this team also provides ongoing support to home operators and their staff to assist them in achieving and maintaining standard expectations.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing OR a diploma in Nursing supplemented by a Post-Basic course or CNA Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is required.
Current practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Active certification in BLS.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) years in psychiatric rehabilitation, acute care or ambulatory care psychiatry.
Knowledge of specific psychiatric approaches i.e. supportive counselling; skills teaching; crisis intervention.
Demonstrated communication skills, team collaboration, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
