Your Opportunity:

The Turning point Program (Unit 3-6) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is an 18-bed inpatient forensic unit that supports youths and young adults who are in conflict with the law. The Turning point Program provides assessment, stabilization, short- and long-term treatment to youth with legal standing under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Stabilization is also provided to youths experiencing an acute psychiatric disturbance. The Turning point Program is a very dynamic and unique program, and the successful candidate will be skilled with engagement, de-escalation skills and healthy boundaries, while providing excellent care in a collaborative team environment.

Description:

As a Psychiatric Aide, you will perform activities within a multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. Your duties will includes assisting with the provision of routine nursing care to meet patients\' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs; assisting with organized activities or programs; as well as observing and reporting on a patient\'s mood, health, and wellbeing. You will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years working with youth in a residential setting. Preferred Qualifications:

Preference for experience in secure settings.
