Job Title: PSR Officer

Position Type: 1 full-time position until June 30, 2025 with possibility of extension

Reporting to the PSR Coordinator, the
PSR Officer
is responsible for reviewing and submitting refugee sponsorship applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRCC requirements, and updating IRCC on any changes. They support sponsoring groups in fulfilling their responsibilities, including pre-arrival coordination, interview preparation, and reception upon arrival in Canada. The role also involves budget monitoring, reporting, and collaborating with key stakeholders such as the Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) and the SAH Navigation Unit (SNU). Additionally, the PRS Officer stays informed on refugee sponsorship policies through training, uses technology effectively, and upholds ANC's policies while promoting anti-oppressive and social justice principles.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Reviews completed refugee sponsorship applications for accuracy and inputs into the IRCC portal, and updates IRCC on any changes regarding family composition or other aspects of the sponsorship, including any changes in the financial or other conditions of the sponsoring groups
Ensures that sponsoring groups carry out their duties including but not limited to the refugees they are sponsoring and IRCC. These duties include pre-arrival tasks such as:
+ maintain contact with refugee applicants and update them and ANC
+ ensure refugees are aware of their interview and appear for the interview
+ prepare refugee for an interview
+ work jointly with refugee applicants to avoid any delay or complication in the sponsorship process
+ reception (meet at airport when required, with the cosponsor, welcome into the community, and provide support orientation to new neighbourhood and life in Canada) Participates in the team-based contract management in regard to budget monitoring, reporting, cash flow forecasting, and other tasks as required
Uses technology effectively in all aspects of the job
Creates awareness of anti-oppressive/social justice issues
Work close and create excellent relationship and ask for advice, if needed, from Refugee Sponsorship Training Program RSTP and SAH Navigation Unit SNU
Participates in training opportunities to stay current on issues impacting MOSAIC's operations, including Refugee Sponsorship Training Program RSTP and SAH Navigation Unit sessions and webinars
Organizes and/or participates in regular team and organization-wide staff meetings
Follows all ANC's policies and administrative procedures
Qualifications and Experience:
Undergraduate degree in related discipline, i.e. social studies, social work, business administration, area or combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Experience in working and supporting the refugee and immigrant population
Excellent ability to connect settlement and financial resources to support refugee applications
Excellent knowledge of settlement procedure and organization in NL
Clear understanding of confidentiality and privacy of client information
Ability to set clear yet friendly professional boundaries
Empathetic, respectful and discrete; remains tactful and patient during stressful situations
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
Strong time-management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
Work independently with limited direct supervision
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Keen understanding of diversity issues, experience working in multicultural settings
Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English is required
Additional language an asset (Tigrinya)
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver's license and daily access to a vehicle is required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
