PSCI 100: People, Power, and Politics: an Introduction
An introduction to the issues, concepts and institutions of contemporary politics in both Canadian and international contexts, inviting critical thinking on subjects such as power, citizenship, democracy, diversity, feminism and colonialism. It links these topics to current world political events and issues. The objectives of the course are to introduce concepts and approaches in political studies; and to cultivate civic education.
Position Requirements
MA or PhD in Political Science or equivalent discipline. Preference related to academic qualifications will be given in the following order: applicants with PhDs; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework and are enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework but are not currently enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who are enrolled in a PhD program but have not completed PhD coursework; applicants with a Masters degree.
Experience with teaching or research related to the course's subject matter.
A record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours
This course is scheduled to be delivered online. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week.
Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
