You will be responsible for wayfinding, providing customer services to patients, visitors and stakeholders, as well as general support. Your compassion and ability to relate to patients, visitors, and communities help de-escalate conflict and create a positive, safe, diverse, and welcoming environment for all. As a PSO, you will be a first responder to critical events within a team environment, while managing your time and setting priorities. You will be covering for Core PSOs, Community and Rural mobile CPOS. Documentation and reporting are a key part of this role. You will utilize the Perspective system to prepare detailed, written documentation of all security and life safety incidents. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking, sound judgement, discretion, and de-escalation techniques. Sound working knowledge of legislation, policy and legal authorities are a necessary skill for the PSO.Description:As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment. Additional Required Qualifications:The successful PARE must be completed and submitted prior to December 14 ,2024, to be eligible for an interview. In addition, the PARE test must be successfully completed within 6 months of the start of the CPOIP class on Jan 20, 2024. You must show that you have a class 5 non GDL drivers' license with less than 4 demerits and no criminal convictions. You must have a valid Current First Aid and CPR Level C - AED certification prior to the interview. Preferred Qualifications:Prefer two years' post-secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice. Prefer two years. security/law enforcement experience. CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention training and Pressure Point Control Tactic Certificates are also assets.
