Our Mobile Community Peace Officers in Protective Services are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of those receiving services from AHS in any of the communities. The successful candidate will recognize the importance of effective interpersonal skills as well, the ability to communicate inclusively and respectfully with patients, staff and families. As a Rural Mobile Unit (RMU) Officer you will exercise sound judgment when enforcing your authorities or abiding by the limitations as a Community Peace Officer all well upholding AHS values. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Police of Jurisdiction, municipal departments, provincial agencies, clinical partners and the community itself. Description:
As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years of post-secondary education in relevant field of work. 2 years' experience working in a Peace Officer position.
