Your Opportunity:

Protective Services is 24 hours a day 7 days a week department who employs sworn Community Peace Officers that ensure a superior level of safety and security to all patients, visitors, and employees while they are in attendance at our facilities. The services provided are an integrated approach with our clinical partners using a patient and family centered care approach with emphasis on customer service. Protective Services as the law enforcement and disaster response unit within the facility will utilize and enforce regulatory, federal, provincial, and municipal legislation\\policies to ensure the delivery and access of healthcare. As a member of Protective Services, the Protective Services Officer will interact with a myriad of select populations all with unique and or specialized needs. It is Protective Services\' paramount goal to assist in maintaining a space that all people can safely access and deliver quality healthcare. Remote Retention Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver\'s Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment. As required. Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with two years post-secondary education in a law enforcement or criminal justice discipline. Two years post-secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice preferred. Two years related security/law enforcement experience preferred WHMIS training preferred. Certificate in CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Pressure Point Control Tactic an asset. Current First Aid and CPR Level C - AED certification.
