Uses electronic monitoring and access control over satellite-controlled access properties. Performs cash/revenue collection escort services in conjunction with armoured car personnel, as well as various mobile/walking security patrol duties. May be involved in responding to emergency or security related situations. Performs security related administrative duties in support of other sections of the department.Key Job Functions

  • Protecting the Revenue Operations facility and its assets; and monitoring and controlling access to four satellite properties (Greenwood, Wilson, McCowan and Davisville) from the Patten Building when not staffed
  • Performing Security Audits on TTC property and writing corresponding reports
  • Using monitoring systems to observe and report on unusual behaviour and suspicious activity
  • Ensuring Security Attendant and Contract Security coverage for specific TTC locations, amending daily schedules as required
  • Applying the Ontario Trespass to Property Act; and reporting hazardous, unsafe, insecure and unsanitary conditions
  • Enforcing parking regulations, issuing parking tickets/cautions as required; and issuing access cards and arranging for escorts
  • Providing Revenue collection escort services in conjunction with armoured car personnel
  • Accessing and monitoring security systems, reporting defects, and maintaining records of maintenance work performed
  • Review and oversee activities within area of responsibility.
  • Document, log, and report on activities and information as required.
  • Maintain and store records and activities as required
  • Manage systems, access capabilities, and security check processes to ensure activities and work processes are executed according to plans and policies.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and support activities pertaining to area of responsibility.
  • Perform security patrols and respond to security related questions.
  • Arrange for staffing changes and work activities to optimize performance and reduce the risk of loss.
  • Ensure staff coverage for all TTC locations and oversee work activities.
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC\'s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC\'s policies.

  • Good knowledge of security/law enforcement practices, surveillance techniques, and security systems
  • Familiarity with court procedures, Criminal Code, Federal/Provincial/Municipal statutes, Trespass to Property Act and TTC By-law No.1; and knowledge of TTC property locations and layouts
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; problem solving and decision making abilities; and ability to work in potentially stressful and physically demanding situations
  • A valid non-probationary Province of Ontario Class G Driver\'s License
  • Completion of a secondary school diploma, or the equivalent, combined with a few years of similar or related work experience.
  • Current valid license to act as a security guard in accordance with the Provincial Private Security & Investigative Services Act
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO) designation and current/up to date First Aid and CPR are preferred
  • The successful applicant must be willing and able to pass an enhanced reliability background check
  • CPTED Training and CPP or PSP designation considered an asset
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete courses relating to areas of responsibility
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
