Roles and Responsibilities


The Protection Supervisor will be responsible in carrying out the mandate of The Child and Family Services. Will oversee the quality of service to a team carrying responsibilities in servicing Onion Lake membership. Will be reporting the Program Manager.

Supervising, monitoring, coordinating activities of assigned staff, allocate workloads and other duties to child protection workers and support staff.

Ensuring that all administrative requirements pertaining to client service, including recording of client files and related client data are completed by the team members in an accurate, complete and timely manner.

Contributing to the ongoing review, analysis and evaluation of service/program quality and effectiveness within the department and/or the Nation as a whole.

Participating in human resources activities such as staffing, orientation, training and professional development.

Participating as required in case review, regular staff meetings and management meetings.

Liaising and attending meetings outside programs and community groups.

Supporting and facilitating good working relationships with the Nation.

Ensuring that all expenditures and sign offs under his/her authority are valid, accurate, warranted and justifiable.

Attend court as required (as worker support, monitoring or training)

Ensure the training needs of the employees (under supervision) are met.

Providing relevant reports when required.

Ensure operational goals are completed as it relates to child and family services functions.

Monitor employee performance.

Coaching, counselling, disciplining employees.

Approve work hours & overtime for all staff under their supervision.

Adhere and enforce OLFS policies and procedures

Adhere to OLFS policies and procedures

Other duties related to the role of Protection Supervisor.

Qualifications and Education


B.I.S.W., BSW

3+ years' experience child protection

5 years' experience in a supervisory position

Class 5 license with acceptable abstract

Clear criminal record with vulnerable sector

Competencies



Knowledge and experience of family dynamics Understanding of The Child and Family Services Act of Saskatchewan*
Work under pressure and stress situations Experience in program development and planning Strong principles and ethics Work under pressure and stressful situations Attention to detail Excellent organizational and time management skills Physical ability to lift up-to 20lbs
