Your future role on our team

BBA has established itself as technical experts in many electrical applications. BBA Edmonton is heavily engaged in the HV/MV markets within Alberta as well as outside of Alberta. The successful candidate will be an active team member of the electrical team delivering HV/ MV designs for both industrial and utility clients. BBA has a national focus on Digital Power Systems (DPS) and Edmonton\xe2\x80\x99s center of excellence is one of the locations chosen. As a result, a digital lab is part of the office for personal development and design development to meet client needs. Here are some key activities that a successful candidate will be performing.

Deliver DPS design solutions
Equipment and Design specifications, vendor bid evaluation, factory acceptance testing, vendor drawing review
Deliver HV/ MV designs; single lines, layouts, BOMs, schematics, wiring
Renewable power designs
Relay design/ settings/ configurations for various applications; line, transformer, cap banks, etc.
System studies: Short circuit, load flow, interconnection, protection and control, arc flash and others
Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA\'s clients and project teams
Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities
Lead projects; Proposal development, design development, design basis, detail design
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewables, industrial and electricity sectors across Canada and abroad

Overview of certifications and job requirements

Engineering degree or technologist diploma from a recognized institution and registered as a Professional in Canada, within electrical or electronics disciplines.A suitable combination of qualification(s) in a relevant field and applicable experience is considered
At least 8+ years of professional experience, specializing in Protection System Engineering
Experience within large industrial, power generation and utility settings with interconnected, networked equipment
Demonstrated experience with different vendors and different protection schemes
Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship building skills
Extraordinarily versatile and broad \xe2\x80\x93 thrives on a wide variety of tasks and challenges
Proven knowledge of project management practices
Working knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC)
