About the Role

The Prospect Research Analyst is a member of AAE\'s prospect research team and reports to the Senior Associate Director, Prospect Research. They are responsible for researching and analyzing data with the objective of identifying and bringing forward prospective donors to the VPAAE, President of SFU, AAE leadership team and frontline fundraisers. This is achieved in consultation with fellow prospect research team members, internal stakeholders and campus partners with a focus on advancing donor and alumni engagement and growing philanthropic support for SFU through major, principal and planned gifts. This role investigates and assesses biographical and philanthropic information, analyzes complex asset and remuneration data in order to create decision-ready, detailed dossiers, wealth evaluation reports, business reports and briefing materials.this role is also responsible for determining prospective donor affinity to SFU, financial capacity, propensity to give and philanthropic interests in order to provide recommendations that support planning and decision-making in support of campaigns and specific fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant discipline and three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years of experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

  • Excellent understanding of research resources including biographical and career resources, corporate resources, securities/stock information, private company valuation, real estate records, foundation databases, news sources and social media platforms.
  • Awareness and strong understanding and adherence to professional standards and codes of ethics, such as those set by APRA Canada.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills - including proficiency in advanced research methodologies such as data analytics, predictive-modeling, segmentation and network-mapping.
  • Excellent organizational, report writing and presentation skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and briefs in a timely manner with a strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams), enterprise-level information systems, and constituent relationship management software (i.e. Blackbaud CRM).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and deliver projects on time.
