L'Arche Toronto is founded on the values of inclusion and is one of over 145 communities worldwide where people with and without disabilities live and share life together. We currently have five L'Arche homes in East Toronto where people with and without disabilities live together. We also run 3 programs for adults with disabilities: Sol Express, Trying It On For Size (TIFS) and an internal Daytime Program. We have a main office, the Gathering Place, located in East York where our administration team works and community gatherings happen. This role is a core support within the L'Arche Toronto community following L'Arche Toronto policies and procedures, the L'Arche Identity and Mission Statement and the L'Arche Canada Leadership model. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and overall safety of all L'Arche Toronto properties, including the homes, program spaces, and office. The Property Manager will be supervised by the Homes Coordinator/Director of Operations and will work closely with the Community Leader/Executive Director and Leadership Team.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Oversee minor repairs and maintenance in all L'Arche Toronto properties. Complete repair and maintenance projects assigned by supervisor. Property inspections - inspect all properties, documents a "to do list" for each property and then establishes an action plan to execute. Maintain and implement systems to ensure the timely maintenance of all properties. This will include and is not limited to prioritization, pricing and communication around critical issues to all relevant persons. In collaboration with your supervisor, follow up on long term planning processes relating to property. Open to positive, supportive, and mutual relationship with individuals with developmental disabilities. Ensure all L'Arche Toronto properties are compliant for Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) inspections. Participation on the Joint Health and Safety Committee is required, including addressing health and safety concerns across L'Arche Toronto properties. Management of minor and capital projects. Establish/develop/maintain good relationships with reputable suppliers and service providers. Establish/develop/maintain documentation and implement routines and schedules to monitor these routines to ensure timely, quality execution. Act as point of contact for maintenance related emergencies. Act as contact person for regular inspections of electrical, fire, ventilation etc. and follow up on any deficiencies. Flexible scheduling required; hours will vary based on needs of properties. This role will also serve as the primary contact for any property?related emergencies.

Qualifications:



Experience with general repair, vehicle maintenance and construction. Strong interpersonal skills. Fluent in spoken and written English and able to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas in a team setting. Clear police check including vulnerable sector screening. Relative knowledge and experience in residential and commercial maintenance, an asset. Ability to remain calm, flexible, and clear in times of crisis. Ability to take direction and follow?through on commitments in a timely fashion. Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and provide solutions. Open to learn and grow; able to give and receive feedback. Financial skills to effectively manage budget. Class G Ontario Drivers License and clean driving record with 3+ years of driving experience required. Ability to negotiate and administrate contracts and agreements (suppliers, subcontractors, local governing permits). Desire and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with committees. Initiative and ability to work independently and as a team.
