Job Description

Rooted (formerly Dartmouth Housing) is looking for a capable maintenance and construction minded individual to join our team. You must have a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in general construction and plumbing within a residential setting.

Working knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general finishing are required. Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision. Specific maintenance activities including but are not limited to: Cleaning vacant units; Removing scraps, heavy debris, and other refuse; Plaster/drywall repair and installation; Laying tile and laminate flooring; Painting units; Cleaning vacant units; Kitchen cabinetry repair and installation. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating systems, plumbing systems, appliances; and troubleshoot electrical systems. Routine maintenance jobs and repairs; Installing windows and doors; and Constructing decks.

This position plays a major role in our general repairs and maintenance, preventative upgrades, accessibility improvements, energy efficiency programs and Health and Safety programs.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Work under pressure; Physically demanding; Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling; Weight handling up to 50 lbs.

Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am until 4:30pm. On-call and after-hours work required.

Required experience:

Handyman: 5 years

Maintenance: 5 years

Construction: 5 years

Health and Safety: 5 years

Proficiency with Yardi Property Management software an asset
