Monday to Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm



SUMMARY

The Facility & Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for verifying and maintaining our Montreal Terminal's property and equipment, to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment is provided to all employees and visitors.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Verify the conditions of all areas of the facility (i.e., inside and outside) to ensure proper operations, safety and compliance, and equipment efficiency. This includes, but is not limited to: building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, sanitation, etc), dock functions (repairing dock doors, leveling plates, refrigeration system, lifting equipment), outside grounds keeping (grass mowing/plant care, line painting, garbage removal, minor paving, and snow removal procedures). Maintain and assist with repairs of the equipment used for each task, such as loaders, plows, lawn mowers, chainsaws, hand tools, etc. Responsible for a daily walk-around throughout the building (Montreal-Vaudreuil Terminal). Document required maintenance and security issues. Responsible for building maintenance as per Procedures Manual set out by Terminal Manager for facilities (Montreal-Vaudreuil Terminal and Shop). Complete the following daily reports: Security Report, Wash Bay Inventory Report, Fluid Inventory, Cleaning Supplies and Daily Employee Activity Report. Follow-up on monthly Health & Safety Committee inspection items. Report back to Supervisor regarding completion. Ensure all areas of building (entrances and exits) are clear and cleaned during daily walk around. Obtain quotes prior to purchasing building materials and hardware to complete tasks. Communicate with Supervisor and Terminal Manager on major repairs and/or purchases. Complete any facility cleaning not provided by contract cleaner. Assist in various operations of snow removal at all facilities (loader, snow scraper, pick-up/salt spreader, etc.). Shovel all walkways, entrances/exits and between vehicles during the winter months and spread salt when required. Responsible for terminal grounds-keeping, including garbage pickup, grass cutting and trimming. Regularly and as required, empty garbage and recycling containers/bins. Communicate with yard/shunting staff with regards to wash-bay supplies and equipment. Ensure the wash bay pit is clean (weekly clean out catch-basin) and free of hazards. Pre-trip all equipment prior to use (loader, pick-up, landscaping equipment, etc.) and report deficiencies. Every Sunday, complete battery cell test and battery wash for all forklifts and complete and file reports. Any forklift battery issues are to be reported to the Dock Supervisor and Terminal Manager. Obtain any required assistance from outside vendors and service providers when needed. Always assure proper maintenance of the HVAC system, warehouse refrigeration system, gate, forklifts. When necessary, participate in the training of new employees. All other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of experience in various general building and yard equipment repairs. Ability to prioritize tasks in terms of importance. Ability to multitask, establish priorities. Able to perform physical requirements (lifting 50+ lbs., shovelling, working on ladders, etc.). Ability to perform repairs (caulking, painting, replacing light fixtures, etc.). Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform basic computer functions. Possess a valid class 3 driver's license. Fluent verbal and written French preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hourly based on 40 hours of work. Hours may be vary. Overtime may be required. Various working conditions (inside, outside, cold storage, freezer, etc.).
