The Edmonton Police Service requires a highly organized and competent property technician to work in our Exhibit Management Branch (Police Seized Vehicle Section) on a full-time, temporary basis. The major responsibilities of this position involve:
Preparing unclaimed vehicles for disposal, including the removal of unclaimed property. May be required to facilitate the removal/confiscation of firearms.
Safe operation of a number of departmental vehicles including a 1-ton cube van and a load all telehandlers.
Providing customer service to police members, contractors, property and vehicle owners, finders, insurance agents, etc.
Safe use and operation of small power hand tools and load all equipment.
Taking in, categorization, location, protection, care and disposition of court relevant exhibits and property which requires strict adherence to policies and procedures.
Completing special assignments as assigned.
Qualifications
:Completion of a two (2) year Post Secondary program in a related discipline such as Law Enforcement or Criminology or equivalent experience in law enforcement.
A minimum of one (1) year experience in a store's operation.
Experience using Microsoft Windows.
A firearms safety course or related training would be considered an asset.
Ability to lift and transport heavy to moderately heavy objects (ie: computers, peripherals, etc) and working outdoors during all weather conditions.
Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Applicant must qualify for Community Peace Officer Status.
The ability to safely operate a 1-ton cube van, a load all wheel loader, and any other Class 5 vehicle.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The proven ability to provide superior customer service, handle several tasks simultaneously and remain calm under pressure.
Applicants may be tested.
As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
20 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.
