The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more. In this role, you are expected to build effective working relationships across a diverse engineering team, with the ultimate goal of delivering complex and innovative engineering solutions that meet our customer needs. The Project Train Electrical Engineer ensures adequate and effective solutions are defined and is accountable leading the electrical team on overhaul projects. The Project Train Electrical Engineer also ensures deliverables are provided in line with schedule and financial aspects.
Purpose of the Job:
  • Accountable for leading the team of electrical engineers, ensuring that electrical schematic and electrical deliverables are provided for overhaul projects
  • Analysing of schematics and planning the development of new schematic on overhaul projects
  • Develop the plan for electrical schematic with Schematic Design Engineer
  • Ensuring schematic design is compliant with applicable standards for safety, reliability, maintainability and customer specifications
  • Developing system interfaces with Train Control and system engineers to ensure electrical functions and systems are adequately integrated.
  • Support in the definition of component part numbers for wiring, relays, circuit breakers, terminal boards, connectors, etc.
  • Develop plan on how to provide carry-over analysis on electrical products, by determining which material to remove and material to retain.
  • Support Mechanical Design Team for cable routing and cable harness drawing development
  • Develop planning for panel and cubical layouts for overhaul projects
  • Provide support during manufacturing to the Industrial Engineers and production
  • Develop plan to validate the schematic design by working with Test and Validation Engineer
  • Report the project progress to the project team and customer
  • Conduct internal and external design reviews with the end customer

Main Responsibilities:
  • The Project Train Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the electrical engineer solution within agreed timeline and budget to support business and broad company objectives.
  • In this role you will be accountable organizing electrical activities, including electrical schematic and the electrical engineering deliverables for overhaul projects.
  • You will contribute on process development, the workload distribution and scope for electrical engineering deliverables.
  • You will contribute to the development of the engineering and manufacturing planning.
  • You provide carry-over analysis on electrical products, by defining what material will be retained and material that will need to be removed as part of the overhaul project.
  • You define the system functional, and electrical requirements in line with the train architecture and customer requirements. You also work in compliance with engineering processes and regulatory standards.
  • You also perform a complete system reliability, maintainability, and safety analysis to ensure a fully integrated, safe & compliant system design. You liaise with other engineers and experts to ensure compliance with the appropriate Industry Standards. You support the Train System Engineer with design optimizations and risk mitigations.
  • You are able to read and analyze electrical schematic. Use design tools like Zuken E3 or AutoCAD electrical to review electrical schematic development.
  • You work with Train Control and system engineers to ensure electrical functions and systems interfaces are adequately integrated. You also provide technical support to the Production Line, Procurement and Quality teams.
  • You conduct internal and external reviews ensuring the design meets the customer requirements.
  • You provide schedule updates to internal project team and customer.
  • You provide technical support to the bids team by identifying adequate technical solutions, and estimating associated costs and schedules.

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of training
  • Professional Engineer designation as per Ontario regulations or in progress

Experience:
  • At least five years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise with SAP
  • Proficient in Zuken E3 or AutoCad Electrical
