Role: Project Supervisor
Location: Port Hardy, BC
Contract Length: 3-9 Months (Estimated 6-9 Months)
Rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off, 60-84 hours per week

Description

Our client is looking for a Project Supervisor to join their team on site North of Vancouver Island. This role reports to the Project Manager, and the contract would last a minimum of 3 months and can be extended up to 9 months total to supervise drilling. The initial project is the construction of a 1900sqft storage and maintenance building for the company\'s sampling boats. Drilling oversight is also expected for the execution of a geotechnical drilling program.

Purpose

The Project Supervisor provides direction and oversight for the day-to-day activities for Projects occurring at site. Safety oversight and issue resolution are a key part of the role. The supervisor will oversee the Contractors and interface with the Project Manager and stakeholders. Other responsibilities include site visits with Contractors for tender/quotes, site orientations, safety training, assist in project planning and others.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Accountable to ensure Contractors deliver project safely and achieve the project scope.
  • Coordination/Interface with project manager and stakeholders (internal & external) to resolve issues.
  • Manage high risk work aligned with BHP\'s standards while finding practical solutions for execution.
  • Approximately 70 percent of the time spent in the field for contractor management related to scope, quality, HSE, and culture.
  • Approximately 30 percent of the time spent in the office to support project planning.
Work Location

Island Copper site (15 min south of Port-Hardy BC); 60-84 hours per week. This role will require travel to and from site on a 14/14 rotation. The travel days are included in the days off. All work is expected to occur at Island Copper but travel to the other Canadian sites (Nova-Scotia, Northern Qu\xc3\xa9bec and Ontario) may be required to support other projects.

About You
  • Engineering, engineering technician, or trades certification in a relevant field (construction, civil, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical)
  • Experience in a project environment
  • Superior interpersonal skills to engage, influence and build solid working relationships with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors, engineering consultants, environmental professionals, and contractors
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to respond to changing priorities
  • Bilingual (French & English) is an asset
  • Basic computer skills are necessary (i.e., edit word documents, emails, virtual meetings, etc.)
