Job Description

Oberland Agriscience is a sustainable black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) farm in Halifax, NS. We are focused on closing the food loop in our region by partnering with local food producers and distributors to up-cycle organic by-products such as spent grains from your favourite craft brewery to grow BSFL on an industrial scale. Oberland's engaged and highly skilled team rears the BSFL in our zero-waste facility and delivers exceptional productivity per hectare yielding a nutrient-rich, low environmental impact protein and fertilizer.

The Project Supervisor oversees special projects and acts as a coach and mentor to the operations team, to drive operational excellence.

This role is supported by the Plant Manager.

The main functional responsibilities of the role are:

- Identify, lead and/or support projects for the safe and efficient production of black soldier fly larvae as directed by plant leadership

Support the Production and QA/QC Teams in process optimization and troubleshooting of process bottlenecks and challenges

- Researchequipment, methods, and processes and make recommendations to improve operations and make appropriate recommendations to leadership

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager

To be a great fit for this role you:

- Have a minimum of 2 years' experience with black soldier fly larvae or similar insect larvae production and operations

- Have experience in managing a production line in a GMP food facility

- Are mechanically inclined

- Are expert at troubleshooting machine issues and identifying opportunities for improving efficiency

- Can be on your feet for the majority of the workday and lift up to 40lbs occasionally

- Are able to effectively be fitted for and wear a respirator
