Overview: We are seeking a Project & Portfolio Management Consultant to join our team in the Strategy, Project Management & Change department. In this role, you will be responsible for providing project management advice and direction to business divisions in the development of strategic and operational projects. You?ll also assist divisions in achieving goals and objectives while ensuring overall professional project management practices are adhered to. In addition, will act as an advisor to the Director Strategy, Project Management and Change as well as to the Executive Leadership Committee with regards to Project Portfolio Management related matters.

Responsibilities: Project Management:
  • Ensure the integrity of project management processes, controls, and reporting and the consistent application of these processes
  • Provide direction and assistance to business divisions with the development of business cases and the annual business plan and budget. Analyze issues and opportunities facing the business divisions and PMO
  • Engage with project leads to ensure all they are following the Project Management Framework and support them in the Change Management Framework as applicable. Taking on additional responsibilities for projects with labor relations impacts, including taking on the project manager role as applicable
Portfolio Management:
  • Perform project portfolio management, analysis, and executive reporting
  • Advisor for oversight on governance, risk management, reporting, communication strategies
  • Assess portfolio viability within appropriate timelines and interdependencies
  • Leading development and maturity of benefits tracking and realization for projects within the portfolio. Including working with projects to define metrics and realize benefits, including impacts and changes to staff
  • Advisor for the development of programs within the portfolio and support programs with the development and maintenance of governance models
  • Lead project manager on sensitive or confidential enterprise projects. Establishing project plans, working with leadership, and reporting on the projects

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Political Science, Economics, Business or similar
  • 5 years? experience in a professional work environment, experience in planning, project management or change management preferred
  • Knowledge of project and portfolio management theories and principles usually acquired through a recognized university degree in business administration, information technology, finance or another related field
  • Demonstrated experience working in a project portfolio management office, in the public sector is considered an asset
  • Certification in Project Management Methodology such as Project Management Professional (PMP) ? PMI Certification
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams and SharePoint
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and demonstrate ability to provide high-level of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
