Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.Valard Construction LP is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in cost analysis and contractor management within the telecommunications industry. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and completing projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating team members and third-party contractors, and overseeing quality control throughout the project lifecycle.RESPONSIBILITIES:Project Management:

  • Lead and manage telecom projects, ensuring all objectives, deadlines, and deliverables are met.
  • Plan projects to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Schedule tasks, deadlines, and milestones for clients, stakeholders, and resources.
  • Manage projects on a day-to-day basis, including preparing and forwarding updates and reports.
Cost Analysis:
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and budget management to ensure financial efficiency and project profitability.
Contractor Management:
  • Oversee and manage contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
Telecom Expertise:
  • Apply industry knowledge to optimize project execution and ensure compliance with telecom regulations and standards.
Stakeholder Communication:
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate communication between staff and third parties as required.
  • Liaise between field construction staff and design engineers, and with third-party engineers when needed.
  • Communicate with the client.
Risk Management:
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
Documentation:
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and logs.
  • Track and report project information using various formats such as reports, presentations, and Visio diagrams.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management.
  • Create, maintain, and constantly look for ways to improve project processes.
Technical Support:
  • Provide technical engineering expertise on calculations, reporting, and interpreting drawings.
  • Review drawings and provide input on engineering issues to the construction manager.
  • Support the Quality Department with technical engineering support when needed.
Coordination and Support:
  • Help coordinate staff and resources on-site as guided by the construction manager, area manager, or operations manager.
  • Support scheduling, accounting, cost and document control, procurement, project filing, and communication with all parties.
  • Interface with project construction management teams to establish workflow.
  • Fulfill both technical and administrative needs as required.
Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure quality assurance and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Constantly monitor and report on project progress to all stakeholders.
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Conduct project evaluations and assess results.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Builds rapport with all department personnel.
  • Interfaces with other departments and leads as needed and as directed by site management.
  • Ensures that all employee information is kept confidential and secured.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Collects and provides all the necessary documents and information for site management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or Business with 5 years of pertinent experience.
  • PMP (or working towards), EIT or P.Eng certification(s), or other similar professional designations are considered an asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience in cost analysis and budget management.
  • Strong contractor management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Problem solving ability, analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Effective written, verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Proficiency of relevant computer programs.
  • Ability to travel as required for project needs.
