JOB TITLE: Project Manager, Transit Business SystemsDEPARTMENT: TransitPOSTING NUMBER: 106198NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1JOB STATUS & DURATION: Full Time PermanentHOURS OF WORK: 35 hour workweekLOCATION: Brampton Transit FacilitySALARY GRADE: 7HIRING SALARY RANGE: $111,485.00 - $125,421.00 per annumMAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $139,356.00 per annumJOB TYPE: Management and AdministrationPOSTING DATE: July 15, 2024CLOSING DATE: July 29, 2024AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:Reporting to the Manager, Business Systems, Transit Services, this role is responsible for overseeing Transit\xe2\x80\x99s most complex IT projects through the full project lifecycle; from inception/Business Case to deployment/post-implementation review. The Project Manager is responsible for overall project planning as well as direction of project resources including Transit staff, business departmental staff and external contractors/vendors.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Collaborates with business leaders from across the City in the identification of IT solutions for business challenges.
  • Leads and/or participates in the development of business cases.
  • Leads the development of project charters, plans, budgets, resourcing strategy and KPIs - overall project plan.
  • Ensure that all phases of the project delivery are performed within the Enterprise Project Management Office (Centre of Excellence & Capital Compliance) standards and budget requirements. Ensure all budget requirement variances adhere to the approved process and procedures.
  • Develops engagement and communications plans as needed.
  • Leads the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in collaboration with IT and Transit Business, and reviews/revises as necessary.
  • Tracks project progress, change requests, risks, and issues and takes action as needed.
  • Develops and provides status and financial reporting.
  • Leads end-user working sessions (focus on solutions, requirements, deployment, etc.).
  • Approves expenditures.
  • Financial Accountability:
  • Assists in developing annual capital budget requests.
  • Working knowledge and application of financial management, business planning and purchasing and contract management processes.
  • Monitors and reports on financial accounts; taking appropriate action to address identified anomalies.
  • Program Development and Support:
  • Ensures that project teams are trained and educated on the City of Brampton\xe2\x80\x99s project management methodologies and tools and that policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensures that Transit end-users are trained and educated on updates and new function and features of various Business Systems products and applications.
  • Provides supports to Transit and project staff including technical advice.
  • Reviews work products and deliverables.
  • Provides input into formal performance evaluation of staff.
  • Stakeholder Relationships:
  • Works with Transit business representatives to assist in identifying business challenges and developing solutions and a suitable project plan.
  • Resolves project specific issues and challenges.
  • Partners with IT and Transit business leaders to coordinate project execution including deployment schedules to manage conflicts.
SELECTION CRITERIA:EDUCATION:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years minimum experience in a system development and integration environment, with project management experience leading mid to large scale projects.
  • Experience with waterfall and agile project management.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology with specific detailed knowledge of network and desktop technologies, IT life cycle methodologies.
  • Experience with system integration, systems testing, maintenance, systems documentation, and systems training.
  • Ability to communicate to diverse groups, work collaboratively and motivate and influence technical/professional staff, vendors, and end-users.
  • G Class driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
  • Access to vehicles and IT equipment within the garages to troubleshoot or support on-board equipment. This may require starting a new bus or have multiple buses in running state to troubleshoot on-board functionality.
  • May require working outdoor periodically to access and troubleshoot transit locations, shelters, stations stops, terminals and facilities.
