Tlicho Community Builders (TCB) is a COR certified, well-established Northern company that has a solid reputation of providing quality residential and commercial construction services in the Tlicho region. We are currently looking for a dedicated and talented professional to join the team as a Project Manager.
Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Project Manager plans, organizes and directs all construction project activities which includes developing, establishing and managing the scope, schedule, budget and implementation plan; all in the context of applicable safety, environmental, and human resources policies, procedures, and legislation. The role also directly oversees site superintendents and monitors construction sites. Regular travel will be required throughout the Tlicho communities of Behchoko, Whati, Gam\xc3\xa8t\xc3\xac and Wekwe\xc3\xa8t\xc3\xac.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of subcontractors, labourers, carpenters, and staff \xe2\x80\x93 residential and commercial construction;
  • Work closely with the Director of Construction, other Project Managers, and the Project and Procurement Coordinator to ensure construction project budgets and schedules are tracked and met and that project controls are in place;
  • Ensure construction projects are carried out efficiently and professionally; meeting all client specifications, applicable construction codes, and Federal, Territorial and community legislation;
  • Read and comprehend blueprints;
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and ensure all safety procedures and policies are followed under a COR certified company;
  • Plan, organize, and direct all project activities including design, procurement, scheduling, estimating, cost control, construction, start-up, and commissioning;
  • Organize and mobilize resources and establish priorities;
  • Develop, establish, and manage the scope, schedule, budget, and implementation plan;
  • Establish project guidelines in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and legislation;
  • Ensure that the proper operational controls, administrative, and reporting procedures and systems are in place to effectively ensure financial performance and client satisfaction;
  • Implement project quality programs and interface with internal and external clients;
  • Initiate and implement corrective action if required;
  • Provide timely and accurate project information and status updates to senior management and clients;
  • Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing and training;
  • Ensure that health, safety, environmental, and security management issues are properly addressed;
  • Manage overall demobilization of project including equipment sell-off and overall site clean-up;
  • Manage project marketing, growth, and development;
  • Perform project estimating;
  • Respond to tenders and RFP\xe2\x80\x99s;
  • Solicit, evaluate and award sub-contracts;
  • Quantify and order materials;
  • Ensure compliance to building codes, project drawings, projects specifications, contracts;
  • Establish positive relationships with Architects, building owners, inspectors;
  • Provide technical support to construction superintendents;
  • Manage invoicing and submittals;
  • Manage material deliveries;
  • assist in preparing cost records and cost reporting;
  • Other duties as required for the effective and efficient operations of the business unit.

Typically, the above would be attained by: A Journeyperson ticket in Carpentry and/or a Technologist certification with a minimum of 5 years experience in Project Management roles in the construction industry (ideally Northern-based construction projects).
