The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta's interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta's competitive wholesale electricity market. The IT Project Management department is seeking full-time summer students to join our team as an Intern Project Manager for a 4-month term from May to August 2026. In this role you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience under the guidance of Senior Managers and Project Managers that are executing IT delivery projects. The successful candidate will learn the AESO's Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) and Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) while acting as a project/program coordinator. You will work alongside existing Project Managers, Quality Assurance and Business Analysts on a variety of projects/elements (HW, SW, integrations, and business processes) where required.
Key accountabilities:Participate in the creation/review all projects deliverables for IT projects
Project Request for Change (RFC) creation and readiness review
Creation of the transition to operations documentation
Resource forecasting per project
Budget analysis project/program
Schedule analysis project/program
Scope analysis - project/program
Project Manager vacation coverage

Experience and a passion for written and verbal communication, preparing documentation, strong writing skills.
Experience with process execution and documentation is an asset.
