Project Manager, Strategic Planning

to support the development, coordination, and execution of the University's new 10-year Strategic Plan. In this pivotal role, you will engage stakeholders, synthesize data, and ensure that the strategic plan aligns with the institution's long-term goals, values, and vision.


What You'll Do



Strategic Plan Development & Execution

Lead the planning and development of the University's 10-year strategic plan, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. Oversee project milestones, budgets, and deliverables from inception to completion. Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from surveys, consultations, and internal reports to inform strategic decision-making. Draft, refine, and finalize strategic planning documents incorporating stakeholder feedback.




Project Oversight & Coordination

Establish, manage, and track project timelines and deliverables, adjusting strategies as needed to meet objectives. Coordinate working groups, task forces, and advisory committees to ensure effective collaboration and communication. Identify and mitigate risks and roadblocks that may impact the planning process.


Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Facilitate engagement efforts with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external stakeholders to ensure broad representation in the strategic plan. Develop and implement communication strategies to maintain transparency and inclusivity throughout the planning process. Prepare reports and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and the Board of Governors.


Research & Analysis

Ensure the strategic plan reflects institutional values, mission, and cultural considerations. Analyze feedback from surveys, town halls, and consultations to inform strategic recommendations. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in strategic planning within post-secondary institutions.


Governance & Reporting

Provide decision-making support to leadership by analyzing and presenting data-driven insights. Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including risk assessments and final reports. Summarize key outcomes and recommendations for future strategic initiatives.

Position Requirements

What You'll Bring to this Position:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Strategic Planning, Project Management, or a related discipline. (A Master's degree in Strategic Management, Higher Education Administration or Organizational Development is considered an asset). 5-7 years of experience in project management, strategic planning, or policy development, preferably in a higher education, government, or public sector environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered.





Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:


Proven ability to manage large-scale strategic initiatives with multiple stakeholders. Proven ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making.*
Experience in facilitating stakeholder engagement, including surveys, consultations, andcollaborative planning sessions. Strong background in developing reports, strategic documents, and presentations for senior leadership. Experience working independently on complex projects with minimal supervision. Experience working within the University of Regina or another higher education institution.



Professional Certifications & Specialized Training (Preferred but Not Required):


Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is an asset. Training or certification in Strategic Planning, Change Management (e.g., PROSCI), or Data Analytics is beneficial. Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or Smartsheet is preferred.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 7 Salary Range $80,496 to $108,632 annually Status Term Work Hours
Normal hours: 8:15 am to 4:30 pm. This position may require irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate stakeholder consultations, leadership meetings, and strategic planning deadlines.
