Job Summary



Cheam First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager to oversee, coordinate, and deliver community-driven, environmental projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring a variety of initiatives that support Cheam's strategic goals, including environmental restoration, cultural revitalization, water quality monitoring, Indigenous Guardian training, and climate adaptation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Environmental Manager, Council, staff, external consultants, and community members to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with Cheam First Nation's values and long-term vision.

Key Responsibilities



Develop project charters, work plans, budgets, and timelines. Coordinate resources, staff, consultants, and contractors. Ensure projects align with Cheam First Nation's strategic and operational plans. Oversee day-to-day project activities and track progress. Monitor project risks, issues, and budgets, implementing mitigation strategies. Prepare and present regular progress reports to leadership and stakeholders. Facilitate communication and collaboration with Council, administration, funding agencies, and community members. Support transparent and culturally appropriate community engagement throughout all project phases. Liaise with government, industry partners, and other First Nations as required. Manage project budgets, including funding agreements and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with funding requirements and financial policies. Provide mentorship to staff involved in project delivery. Promote best practices in project management within Cheam. Participate in outdoor restoration activities including but not limited to fish salvages, water sampling, canoeing, and restoration planting. Other duties as required.

Job Requirements



Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Indigenous Governance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of work experience). Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent considered an asset. Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience managing projects, preferably within Indigenous communities or government organizations. Demonstrated experience with funding agreements, reporting, and compliance. Proven track record in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of Indigenous governance, community development, and cultural values. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication abilities, with strong facilitation skills. Proficiency in project management software and the MS Office Suite. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a culturally respectful manner.

Working Conditions



Primarily office-based with regular travel for meetings, site visits, and training. Required to work outside in various weather conditions when conducting site inspections, community engagement events, or overseeing project activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
