This will require relocation one of these locations and relocation assistance would be offered! Reporting to the Area Manager, the Project Manager oversees the management and coordination of paving projects with respect to technical requirements, budget and timelines. Responsible for project lifecycle from tendering to substantial completion.

Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities:

  • Understand and abide by all OH&S Regulations, Safety Policy, other internal policies and safety directives that may be implemented on specific sites from those that the Company is contracted with to perform the work (ie. owners, general contractors)
  • Provide leadership to the crews and work towards a positive safety culture with the field staff and management team
  • Set a positive example at all times
  • Participate in tailgate safety meetings & hazard assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy
  • Participate in the review of project sites daily for changing conditions that may negatively affect safety of employees or subcontractors working for the Company
  • Participate in completing Job Site Hazard Assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy
  • Inform and advise immediate supervisor of items of concern and aide in making adjustments to work schedule or methods of construction to ensure safety of workers at all times
  • Participate in the review of project sites regularly to identify environmental concerns in order to avoid negative impacts on the environment
  • Notify immediate supervisor immediately if item of concern is found so that mitigating measures can be implemented immediately if necessary in order to minimize negative environmental impact
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems
  • Prepare and issue as required reports related to the following: work related accident, incident, environmental incidents and other reports
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess work to be completed to ensure schedules are maintained
  • Estimate of works, experience in Heavy Bid preferred Network with local government, private contractors and the general public
  • Assist in coordinating and schedule all work activities related to the projects
  • Responsible for maintaining the cost control system of the projects. Including receiving, approving, coding and submitting of hired equipment & truck tickets accurately and daily
  • Liaise with consultants, owners, customers, superintendents, sub-contractors and other project stakeholders regarding safety, project progress, scheduling, change orders and other project issues
  • Examine engineering reports to ensure quality control requirements are met, and apply appropriate corrective action when necessary
  • Troubleshoot project concerns such as bad weather, scheduling conflicts, quality control issues, labour issues, contractor and/or client concerns and other unforeseeable matters
  • Monitor and update project schedules. Provide ongoing two week look aheads
  • Coordinate First Calls, dig permits, Job kick offs, and other related tasks
  • Coordinate crews, sub-contractors, materials and other resources necessary to meet and maintain project schedules
  • Coordinate logistics of mobilization of equipment and crew, as well as accommodation of crew as required
  • Responsible for timely and accurate month end reporting of labor and equipment hours, inventories, and hired truck and equipment time
  • Liaise with the Human Resource department on a variety of employee related issues, including employee development, recruitment, benefits, training, terminations, and investigations
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company\'s Code of Ethics
  • Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Periodically lift items weighing more than 50 lbs.
  • May be required to work long hours and on occasion (during high season) 7 days a week, in town and out of town assignments
  • During the summer high season working hours will typically be 7am-5pm. During winter months hours will typically be 8am-4pm or as required
  • Will be required to be accessible to field calls/emails after work hours or on weekends as needed to coordinate with operations
  • Labour work may be required in assisting with the crew when an extra hand is required
  • May be required to do a lot of walking and standing in a noisy environment
  • May be working in inclement weather: rain, snow, heat, cold, and wind
