Position:

The Associate Project Manager will support the Director, Project Management on all construction, renovation, and operational projects, throughout the full life cycle of projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring that projects are completed on time, on budget and delivered to the desired quality. With strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills the Associate Project Manager will collaborate and assist in leading and supporting the stakeholder and communication management of all projects. Project Key Stakeholders include, but are not limited to, GWC Senior Management Team, Property Development, Operational Departments (Finance, IT, Procurement, Gaming Operations, Compliance, etc.) and external resources such as Architects, Engineers, Designers, General Contractors, Construction Managers, and Government entities such as Municipalities, Gaming regulators, etc.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Project lifecycle.
  • Ability to prepare, monitor, and track detailed budgets, and manage operational project spending.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with highly sensitive materials and situations.
  • A strong sense of professionalism within a collaborative team environment.
  • Should be familiar with compliance regulatory requirements (BC, Ontario, Alberta), and Health & Safety standards.
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and problem solve.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Ability to work effectively and successfully in a team through a fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment.
  • 3-5 years of related gaming operational experience.
  • 3+ years of related project management
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a variety of environments (Casino, Restaurant, Hotel) simultaneously from initiation to closeout.
  • Proficient with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Webex.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Construction Project Management Platforms is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Acts as key contributor within the project team, tasked with supporting Operations and Development to deliver projects on time, on budget and within scope/quality.
  • Coordinates and supports project meetings via calendars, calendar invites and schedules, books, and prepares meeting rooms, where applicable, prepares agendas, and meeting materials.
  • Drafts and edits correspondence, presentations, communications, publications, reports, and other documents.
  • Using the appropriate software tools and project management methods, conducts active maintenance of the Operational Project Plans including timelines, phases, milestones, and risk/resolution identification.
  • Tracks, monitors, and generates reports on the progress of each project against base-line schedule, confirming alignment with overall Development, Operational and Construction schedules.
  • Ensures projects maintain compliance with guidelines and building codes, AGCO, BCLC and AGLC standards, and adheres to GWC health and safety regulations.
  • Ensures Operational requirements and expectations are effectively expressed, accurately documented, and communicated to key stakeholders including Property Development, Designers, Construction, and Consultants.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including GWC Teams, consultants, vendors, government authorities, etc.
  • Help identify all owner supplied and pre-opening items including, but not limited to FF&E, Software Programs, Signage, Equipment, etc.
  • In coordination with the Director, Project Management, Development, Procurement and Operations, tracks, monitors, and reports on Pre-Opening Budgets costs to ensure project stays within budget, identifying concerns and/or risks.
  • Coordinates with Procurement, Development and Operations the delivery and receipt of the construction, owner supplied and pre-opening items on site.
  • Creates and tracks Operational deficiency and/or incomplete work reports throughout the project life, conducting full reviews at project end.
  • Plays a key supporting roll in transitioning new Gateway properties from construction to occupancy turnover by tracking closeout documentation to ensure both Operations and Development are positioned for success.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Office and construction environments including exposure to dust, dim lighting, uneven walking surfaces, outdoor areas, and noise.
  • Exterior work during inclement weather.
  • Walking, standing, and sitting \xe2\x80\x93 postures vary throughout the day.
  • Regular travel between various company sites in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
  • May occasionally stand and walk for long periods.
  • Very fast paced, change driven office and casino environment.
  • Lifting and/or transporting equipment/items (25lbs+)
