We are a service-based organization made up of great people who work hard to get the job done and deliver excellence in the communities where we work and live.Description:ATCO Frontec is seeking a temporary Project Manager to join our National Research Council of Canada (NRC) project in Ottawa, Ontario. The Project Manager reports to the Project Delivery Manager to support coordinating minor construction and the operations and maintenance of NRC building systems, components, and facilities over 5 locations in Ottawa.Responsibilities:

• Manage and administer maintenance, inspection and certification services for building systems, fire protection and detection systems, overhead cranes and lifting devices, gas monitoring and detection, mechanical and electrical systems as well as water treatment for heating systems in accordance with manufacturers operating and maintenance manuals.
• Liaise with the Project Delivery Manager to determine client requirements, resolve operational issues, and recommend corrective action in order to ensure that client needs are met.
• Manage minor construction projects and sub-contractors and work from drawings and sketches.
• Develop and tender documents for construction and renovation projects as well as evaluate proposals and make recommendations to customer.
• Provide emergency response, subcontractor coordination, and 24/7 responsiveness.
• Review project documents, make recommendations, and ensure that all work is carried out according to applicable standards and codes.
• Manage restoration and repair activities for a wide variety of building types, including a heritage building.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in overseeing, coordinating mechanical/architectural/building construction projects and developments.
• A university degree or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, project management or construction management is an asset. However, demonstrated experience will be accepted in lieu.
• Project Management Professional designation (PMP) is desirable.
• Experience working with public sector clients would be an asset.
• Deep knowledge of various design and construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation.
• Advanced understanding of Project Management methodologies and experience working in a Project environment.
• Effective client management and people management skills matched with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client and technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word), MS outlook, and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications as well as troubleshooting various IT computer problems.
• Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability Level.
• Ability to manage activities of technical staff, contractors, and be able to co-ordinate activities with other levels of governments and external agencies/utilities.
• Able to assist in formal RFQ\'s and RFP\'s and able to review, analyze and recommend acceptance of proposals from construction firms.
