Position Overview
We're looking for a
hands-on Production Manager
to lead our LED manufacturing operations. Our company designs and builds
custom lighting solutions for the film and television industry
, where creativity, precision, and flexibility are key. The Production Manager will oversee a small team of skilled technicians, plan and schedule production work orders, and coordinate with the sales and engineering teams to deliver high-quality custom lighting products, on time.

Due to the nature of this position, it will be located full time at the office.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Oversee production schedule and assign daily tasks. Monitor workflow to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
Supervise, train, and motivate a small production team (assembly, wiring, fabrication, and testing) to achieve productivity and quality targets.
Foster a positive, collaborative environment with open communication and accountability.
Hands-on approach -- many tasks will require you to work directly with Operations team members on the floor.
Production Planning, Scheduling, and Oversight
Review incoming work orders and design specs to consult on labor, material, and time requirements.
Process incoming technical drawings and create drawings, instructions, and wiring diagrams for technical staff to execute custom builds.
Work with Engineering department to develop build processes for in-house electronics fabrication.
Develop daily and weekly schedules to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining flexibility for last-minute changes common in film and TV production.
Track work in progress and proactively adjust schedules as needed and communicate status updates to relevant departments.
Oversee all packaging and labelling of custom builds and sample products to maintain product accuracy, verify electrical specifications, and survivability in shipping.
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with the sales team to confirm production timelines and manage priorities.
Liaise with engineering and procurement to ensure materials and technical details are ready for production.
Report to management on production metrics, capacity utilization, and potential bottlenecks.
Facilitate communication between Management and Operations team members.
Quality Control, Efficiency & Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to quality standards and implement improvements in assembly processes.
Work with Engineering department to oversee and execute quality control checks for incoming and outgoing products.
Maintain an organized and efficient production area and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflow and reduce waste without compromising craftsmanship.
Qualifications
PMP Certification Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) an asset.
3-5+ years of experience in a production or shop management role, ideally in lighting, electronics, or custom fabrication.
Must demonstrate familiarity with LED lighting systems and system design. Film/TV/ live events lighting including DMX networking experience is a strong plus.
Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization, particularly for small-batch or custom manufacturing processes.
Comfortable reading and creating technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
Drawing Software used at Moss LED: Inkscape, Sketchup. Knowledge of Sketchup, AutoCAD, Vectorworks a plus.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Experience working with ERP software (Cin7 Core or similar)
Experience with Microsoft Office suite and GSuite
Knowledge of electronics assembly or commercial/residential electrical standards is a plus.
