Malahat Nation represents approximately 350+ members with two reserve lands located on the western shore of Saanich Inlet, south of the village of Mill Bay, about 40-kilometres north of Victoria, British Columbia. Malahat Nation is seeking a dedicated and hard-working Project Manager with experience working with Indigenous communities in Capital Projects to join our Capital Projects team. PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Director of Capital Projects, the Project Manager, will provide experienced community infrastructure knowledge and advise on the development of Malahat Nation Infrastructure Projects in community. Additional duties are: responsible for research, analysis, formulation, direction, interpretation and implementation on assigned policy, program, legislative or other key issues. This position will provide advice on policies, procedures and laws to ensure the government operations meet the overarching Malahat Nation direction and requirements that are consistent with the Framework Agreement between the Malahat Nation and Canada. This position is fulltime one-years term position, based in office and /or active construction sites within community, minimal local travel may be required. Hours set to meet operational needs including nights, weekends and possibly holidays.=
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Director of Capital Projects, and in collaboration with other Malahat Nation Departments, in the coordination of Projects within Malahat Nation's reserve lands and territory
Support the Capital Projects team in administrative support including but not limited to coordinating meetings, preparing and distributing project meeting minutes, assist with general project coordination, etc.
Support the development and drafting of briefing notes identifying key facts, issues, and recommendations in response to external agency requests
Work in collaboration with Directors and community leaders in designing and executing Infrastructure & Capital Projects
Provide infrastructure consulting services such as business planning, feasibility analyses, budgeting, market analyses, strategic planning, business advisory services, etc.
Conduct economic research and analyses
Develop and engage in the preparation of written reports, technical proposals and presentations
Seek and recommend innovative ways of addressing Malahat Nation infrastructure gaps
Build and retain partnerships with a network of partners, stakeholders, and community
Navigate and facilitate Infrastructure development within Malahat Nation community
Research, formulate, and recommend innovative ways to increase infrastructure opportunities for Malahat Nation communities
Contribute to the creation and continued improvement of data collection processes
Contribute to the preparation of high-quality briefing notes, submissions, briefs, position papers, and presentations
Travel as needed to support the Director of Capital Projects
Other related duties as required
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is required
Five (5) years' recent related experience managing, leading and directing facilities projects in a complex environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience related to infrastructure and capital projects
Experience in planning and coordinating projects using project management principles and tools
Criminal Record Check (CRC) required
Valid BC Driver's License and reliable vehicle required
OTHER EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset
Experience in Project Management. Certification such as PMP or CAPM is an asset
Experience working in an Indigenous community and a willingness to learn about Malahat culture, customs, and traditions is an asset

Demonstrated knowledge of capital project planning and implementation processes including design, construction and procurement within current standards, codes, bylaws and regulations
Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings and construction specifications
Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize and implement projects in a timely manner
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs and able to operate related equipment including applicable software applications
Must be physically fit and able to meet the job requirements
