Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for leading a single construction project from initial design and estimating through to final completion. This role ensures the project is delivered with exceptional quality, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining strong communication among all project stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead all administrative, technical, and managerial aspects of the assigned project.
Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule using MS Project; update proactively as conditions change.
Monitor project costs, track performance against budgets, and prepare cost-to-complete forecasts.
Manage and document all change orders, ensuring accurate pricing, negotiation, and timely processing.
Review, negotiate, and approve contracts with sub-trades, consultants, and suppliers.
Provide clear, professional communication to clients, consultants, trades, and team members.
Supervise and mentor project staff, supporting performance, development, and collaboration.
Review drawings and specifications; identify issues, document discrepancies, and coordinate resolutions.
Oversee preparation and management of RFIs, SIs, and other critical project documentation.
Chair project meetings, establish responsibilities, and ensure accurate meeting records.
Lead project close-out activities including as-built documentation, warranties, and deficiency management.
Provide monthly project updates to Ownership, including schedule status, financial performance, and key risks.
Qualifications
5-10 years of construction experience with strong project management background.
Solid understanding of commercial construction processes and best practices.
PMP or PMAC certification considered an asset.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, contracts, and risk.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
Valid Class G driver's license and clean driving record.
Working Conditions
Combination of office-based work and on-site project visits.
Requires balancing deadlines, technical demands, and leadership responsibilities.
Must comply with relevant legislation including OHSA, WSIB, PIPEDA, and ESA.
