Job Summary
The Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness is accountable for ensuring smooth, efficient institutional operations and supporting the strategic priorities of Dalhousie by providing shared services in the space of strategy development, project and planning support, data warehousing, governance and advanced analytics. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Planning and Strategy, the Project Manager will be a vital member of the Planning & Institutional Effectiveness team, playing a key role in advancing strategic and operational initiatives related to administrative transformation across the university.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of complex, university-wide projects aligned with administrative transformation and institutional priorities.
Manage a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, on time, and on budget while maintaining quality standards.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by coordinating project teams, engaging stakeholders, and overseeing external partners and vendors.
Develop and maintain key project documentation, including detailed plans, budgets, risk assessments, and stakeholder communications.
Contribute to the development and standardization of project management tools, templates, and best practices to support ongoing transformation efforts.
Apply change management strategies to support adoption, build readiness, and address impacts to people, processes, and policies.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business administration, plus a minimum of five years' progressive relevant experience within complex, matrixed organizations (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
Proven experience in project management, business analysis and change management as well as experience in the field of higher education.
Highly motivated with strong judgment and analytical skills as well as proven tact and diplomacy.
Excellent team-building, interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
Professional formal project/program management training.
Assets
Formal training/certification in business analysis and/or change management.
