Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, DeepSense, the Project Manager, will play a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of AI and ML focused applied research projects by students. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects remain on track, within scope, and aligned with the objectives of both the students and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple student-led AI/ML projects from initiation through completion, ensuring all project milestones and deliverables are met.
Maintain a detailed and organized project schedule, including task assignments, deadlines, and progress tracking.
Conduct regular check-ins with students and partners to assess project status and mitigate risks early.
Serve as the main communication hub between students, industry partners, and technical staff, ensuring clear, professional, and timely updates are provided to all parties.
Understand the basics of cloud infrastructure to ensure proper implementation and handoff.
Assist on special projects as directed by DeepSense management.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or oceanography with some understanding of AI, Machine Learning or Data Science (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
Demonstrated project management experience and/or training.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, researchers, and industry professionals.
Experience in delivering projects involving cloud technologies and AI/ML applications.
Assets
Master's in a relevant field.
Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.)
