Project: Workforce Development & Attraction - Work NW Alberta Location: Grande Prairie-Greenview Corridor, Alberta Reporting to: Steering Committee / Executive Director of Work NW Alberta Duration: January 2026 - December 2026 Budget oversight: As defined by the Partnership (e.g., grant funds, operational budget) Purpose: To lead, coordinate and deliver the key initiatives of the Work NW Alberta partnership, ensuring alignment with the regional labour?force strategy, employer needs, community goals and partner commitments.

1. Background
The Work NW Alberta Partnership is a collaborative regional workforce development initiative led by the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie No. 1, and Municipal District of Greenview No. 16, in partnership with the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce and Northwestern Polytechnic.
The Partnership's mandate is to attract, retain, and grow a skilled and diverse workforce by promoting regional employment opportunities, supporting local employers, advancing work-integrated learning (WIL), and showcasing the region's quality-of-life advantages to strengthen recruitment efforts.
The Project Manager will be instrumental in advancing the Partnership's multi-year strategy, providing coordination across partners, overseeing deliverables and budgets, and tracking performance outcomes to ensure project success.

2. Objectives
The Project Manager is expected to achieve the following objectives:
1. Deliver the key program initiatives of Work NW Alberta on time, on scope and on budget.
2. Establish operational systems, governance processes and reporting frameworks to support the Partnership and the Steering Committee. Work closely with the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce with administrative duties.
3. Coordinate stakeholder engagement (employers, education institutions, municipalities, industry associations) to ensure alignment and input into programs.
4. Lead the employer?facing toolkit, recruitment/retention supports, and WIL (work?integrated learning) portal expansion.
5. Monitor, evaluate and report on performance metrics (e.g., employer participation, job placements, student WIL placements, regional attraction metrics) and provide regular progress reports to funders/partners.
6. Ensure effective communications (internal and external) - including partner updates, media, website content, events - to drive the regional branding of the "Work o Live o Play" and "Make a Good Living, Live a Great Life" Narrative.
7. Ensure risk management, change control, budget oversight and contractual compliance with funders, partners and any subcontractors.
3. Roles & Responsibilities
Project Manager will be accountable for:
Managing the day-to-day execution of the work plan and all workstreams.
Serving as the main liaison with the Steering Committee, partner organizations and funders.
Ensuring budget and resource control, approving timesheets/expenses (in line with partner policy).
Monitoring risks, issues, and making recommendations for corrective action.
Preparing and delivering status reports, dashboards, presentations.
Leading or facilitating meetings, workshops and consultations as required.
Ensuring that project documentation and knowledge transfer is maintained and accessible.
Grant applications
Steering Committee / Governance Body will be responsible for:
Providing strategic direction, approving major deliverables and budget changes.
Stakeholder buy-in, partner coordination and political awareness.
Escalating issues and making decisions on scope changes, budget amendments, or program pivots.
Partner Organisations (e.g., municipalities, Chamber, Northwestern Polytechnic) will:
Provide subject?matter support, data, access to networks and staff resources.
Participate in engagement events, employer outreach, referrals.
Collaborate on communications, campaign activities and program rollout.
4. Qualifications & Experience
The Project Manager should have:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Economic Development or related field (or equivalent experience).
A recognized project?management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is an asset.
At least 5 years' experience managing multi?stakeholder/regional projects, preferably in economic development, workforce development or community planning.
Experience with stakeholder engagement, employer/industry partnerships, education sector collaboration.
Strong budget and financial management skills.
Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
Experience with monitoring & evaluation frameworks, KPI development and reporting.
Comfortable working in a regional context (Grande Prairie-Greenview corridor) and/or with municipalities, education institutions and industry.
Ability to travel within the region as required.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $75,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Grande Prairie, AB T8V 7X9
