This position is responsible for direct interface with the client on projects assigned to him, and for all activities associated with processing and completion of the project.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The position reports to the Program Manager.

Reviewing of testing and evaluation reports generated by the laboratory.
Reviewing customer contract requirements and related specifications.
Prepare technical reports for final review and approval by program manager.
Conduct product safety investigations and ensure that appropriate tests are performed to certify compliance against applicable standards.
Interact directly with clients regarding project specifications, test plans and strategies, project status, timelines, and test results.
Develop test methods, procedures and technology.
Prepare project quotations.
Initiate meetings, distribute samples and folders containing work orders and pertinent information to the areas doing the testing.
Interact daily with the managers and technicians regarding testing, schedules and reports, as well as shipping and receiving, customer service and sales.
Organize folders containing test results, checking to make sure all the tests required by the client have been performed and performed correctly. If applicable, ensure the work order or scheduler is correct before sending the folder to type.
Keeps track of project turnaround times, alerting other staff when a problem is present.
If applicable, update the scheduler daily, particularly regarding due dates.
Assist with the financial matters and other administrative duties associated with assigned projects.
Maintain lab books and complete other required documentation including the writing of technical test reports, comprehensive documentation of findings, processes, procedures, costs, and methodology.
Analyze technical literature and stay current on related issues and technical data.
Read and interpret test specifications according to acceptance standards.
Perform all tests and related work according to established standards applicable to the work.
Prepare job costing reports.
Comply with all safety rules, including the proper use of safety equipment and maintain a safe, orderly and clean environment.
Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Manual and all other company policies and procedures.
Perform other work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or technology, or related area, or equivalent in terms of education, training and experience.
Five years' work experience at a Product Compliance laboratory such as; UL, CSA, ETL, in the capacity of testing technician, project coordinator, or other directly related experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the job.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, interact effectively with clients and other staff members, and document/report on work in a comprehensive manner.
Experience effectively utilizing personal computers and a variety of software related to the work of this position at QPS to produce comprehensive technical reports.
Knowledge and experience investigating, interpreting and utilizing technical information, standards, methods, and regulations related to position.
Experience managing data and statistical reports utilizing a variety of spreadsheet and other computer software.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in engineering or related area.
Eight years work experience at a Product Compliance laboratory such as; UL, CSA, ETL, with considerable experience in the capacity of compliance test engineer, or directly related position.
Three years successful work experience coordinating or managing projects at QPS or similar organizations.
Certified Professional Engineer.
Experience with International, Canadian and European Standards / Product Listing Programs (CE marking).
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of general business operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual acuity, depth perception, and color vision, with or without corrective lenses, to examine and inspect samples, equipment, test results, etc.
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
Dexterity to operate equipment, bend, turn, reach, balance.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal (including telephone) and written format.
Ability to routinely lift equipment between 25 to 50 lbs.
Ability to travel to worksites, meetings, etc.
