Enrolment Systems & Service Innovation within the Office of the Deputy Provost Students & Enrolment is responsible for providing functional support of the University's enrolment systems. Position
Reporting to the Manager, Business Transformation & Service Innovation, the Project Manager is responsible for the proposal, initiation, planning, execution, control, monitoring, and closing complex technology, business systems, and service innovation projects within the Enrolment Systems & Service Innovation portfolio. These projects involve several cross functional teams and diverse stakeholder groups across the University. As such a high level of influence is required to ensure the achievement of significant and organization wide benefits. These projects often involve the development, enhancement and implementation of business processes, student services and digital transformation change initiatives to meet business and institutional objectives.
The Project Manager is a key leader in ensuring the Enrolment Systems & Service Innovation teams are delivering projects according to timelines and key deliverables.
Duties
Develops and defines the scope of work, budget, schedule, and methodology for carrying out the project and revises the plan throughout the project life cycle to meet changing needs and priorities comment.
Creates and manages the Project Management Plan which highlights staffing, budget, quality, communications, risk, and procurement, as appropriate.
Owns and executes project communications including kick-off, regular project status updates, meetings and changes to project scope, timelines, risks, etc.
Provides regular and accurate reports as well as project status updates, progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and project steering committee.
Identifies and manages project dependencies, deliverables, and critical path.
Identifies, tracks, and implements strategies to manage risks and issues, maintains accurate risk-tracking documents, and escalates issues when necessary to minimize impact.
Monitors project and team performance against plans and take effective corrective and preventive actions as required.
Facilitates open and honest communication among participants, stakeholders, and steering committee.
Initiates and prepares transition plans to migrate project deliverables, incorporating user training and prototype standards testing according to operational/business requirements.
Conducts post-implementation follow-up to ensure all tasks and close-out steps are completed successfully on the project.
Forges the necessary relationships with stakeholders to accomplish work and be effective.
Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and stakeholders.
Contributing to the development of and enhancement of project management practices, procedures, tools and techniques to be leveraged for future projects.
Leading and contributing to the development of project practices such as benefits realization and organizational change management.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in Computing Science, Business Management, or Information Systems Management; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; minimum completion of post-secondary education.
Five to seven years of experience in project management experience.
Project management (PMP) certification is preferred.
Proven project management and leadership skills.
Demonstrated success in the execution of project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc.).
Comprehensive working knowledge of the project lifecycle as it relates to enterprise applications, business transformation and service design.
Strong planning and organization skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively build relationships and alliances with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience working with various Project Management tools and software (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart, Project, etc.).
