Our expectations

Under the responsibility of the Construction Director, the Construction Project Manager will be responsible to supervise all aspects for the management of construction projects that he is entrusted with. Using project management tools and techniques, the Project Manager is involved in developing solutions, detailed planning, management, and execution of the project up to its final delivery. The incumbent will participate in and be responsible for the management during the multiple stages & types of projects, including but not limited to the due diligence process, property inspections, new store construction, standard upgrades, store conversions & facility improvement projects (distribution centers, warehouses, offices, parking lots & lumberyards, etc.), as well as related works pertaining to remerchandising, with this applicable to the different RONA banners across Canada. The Project Manager will be responsible for documenting the entire construction process for each project undertaken. The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of the contractual documents and be able to communicate efficiently with consultants, general contractors, suppliers & sub-trades, as well as with RONA\'s internal teams & stakeholders.

Your role

  • As part of a project team or individually, participate in the project planning, in the drafting of the project schedule and in the preparation of budget cost estimates for the various types of projects in which he will take part.
  • Coordinate the consultants involved in the preparation of the various draft design studies.
  • Possess the ability to manage the external consulting team for the preparation of required plans & specifications (architectural, engineering & all other disciplines)
  • Prepare the call for tender packages.
  • Conduct a thorough tender analysis & compile costs (direct & indirect) to the cost estimate / budget format for comparison to the budget approved by the senior management.
  • Administer the contract documents.
  • Inspect, monitor, and document the construction work progress to ensure compliance with the contract documents, quality of the work and adherence to the project schedule & timelines.
  • Manage construction budget to ensure that it remains within the budgetary envelope (PAR) limits.
  • Promptly review, analyze, and approve / disapprove change orders per the requirements of the contractual agreement.
  • Review, analyze, and approve / disapprove contract payment requests.
  • Produce project status reports as required by management for current updates, regularly document the project progress & process.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other departments within RONA to achieve the company\'s objectives for quality of service to internal clients.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively throughout Canada when required.
  • Must have the ability to present information efficiently & effectively.
  • Must be able to work at a high level of autonomy and have the flexibility to react quickly in a dynamic business environment, as well as having the capacity for problem solving.
The qualifications we are looking for
  • The candidate should have 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial project management, ideally in the retail sector (an asset).
  • The candidate holds a bachelor\'s degree in engineering or architecture, a DEC (technical college diploma) in these same disciplines, or extensive experience in the construction industry at the project management & supervision level.
  • Holds professional certification / be an active member of a recognized professional association such as the OAQ, OIQ, OTPQ, PMI, CIQS, AE\xc3\x89CQ, etc.
  • Mastery of project management techniques & tools.
  • The ability to prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with various software packages including Microsoft Office, MS Project, Oracle People Soft. Knowledge of AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills, \xc2\xabself-taught\xc2\xbb with the initiative to work independently.
  • Has the ability to multi-task and stay organized meeting daily project priority needs.
