Reporting directly to the Manager, Community Engagement Services, this role is responsible for managing community projects in the Community Engagement Services division. The Project Manager, Community Projects will mobilize local resources to ensure collaboration with various teams comprised of both internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects and strategies that will improve the overall Community Services portfolio at the Town of Caledon. These projects are focused on developing Culture initiatives that are community facing which include public art, placemaking and community engagement and support, making Caledon a more vibrant place to live. They are responsible for project management and coordination and the execution of deliverables in the Recreation and Culture Strategy and would engage with key stakeholders and residents and pursue external funding opportunities.
Oversee the design, implementation and management of projects that impact community, culture and public spaces as outlined in the council and corporate workplans (i.e.: Recreation and Culture Strategy).
Lead the management of key corporate project initiatives aligned with Council's strategic priorities with a dedicated focus of maintaining project management frameworks that ensure projects are standardized and delivered on time and on budget
Provide direction and coordination to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including task forces, community groups, and cross-functional teams, to ensure initiatives are completed effectively and on time.
Identify gaps in services within Community Services and implement initiatives to expand offerings for residents
Develop agreements with vendors, negotiate funding and the creation of community service agreements with partners for projects that support objectives within the Recreation and Culture strategy
Listen to ideas that are presented by residents and members of the community for new social and cultural initiatives that may benefit the community. Assist with the development of ideas and the design of programs that can translate ideas into operational activities
Work collaboratively with residents, other levels of government, contractors and community agencies on strategic partnerships to delivery objectives of Recreation and Culture strategy.
Seek out external funding opportunities, and manage grants and the associated reporting with external funding opportunities
Support departmental budget decisions to promote fiscal responsibility within assigned areas of expertise and portfolio, including public arts.
Ensure projects are delivered in alignment to industry standard project management frameworks including the development and continuous evaluation of goals and objectives
Develop overall project timelines, budgets, detailed product design/formulation specifications, and develop and implement effective reporting to keep project stakeholders and senior management informed on key project metrics
Work collaboratively with various stakeholders including resident groups, community groups and sports groups to ensure full engagement in project deliverables and full compliance with partnership agreements
Support the Manager/Commissioner/CAO to strengthen relationships by coordinating consistent key messaging, presentations, and meetings, prepare reports for stakeholders and council, as required
Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned
Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate Strategic Plan and the Recreation and Culture Strategy
Participate in all mandatory training requirements
Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines. - people participating in the task forces
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an individual with a Project Management Professional designation with a post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration, Community Development or related field. Certifications in project management quality assurance (Six Sigma), project management, change management, strategic planning, legal awareness, municipal administrative would be considered an asset. Our ideal candidate has Minimum 3-year related experience in community development, special projects, and stakeholder management.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to ensure suitable agreements, decisions are reached. We are seeking an individual with the ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving regular access to confidential data.
The successful candidate for Project Manager, Community Projects will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office and after hours (as required).
This position offers a salary range of $96,512.66 to $120,640.83 plus a competitive benefit package.
