Compensation Range $5,063.67 - $7,294.50 CAD Monthly

The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

Under the lead of Dr. Erin Michalak, the CREST.BD research network\xe2\x80\x99s impact and reach has grown substantially. Since 2017, the CREST.BD website has seen a 930% increase in annual visitors. CREST.BD is a globally recognized resource for supporting people with bipolar disorder - with over 80% of its visitors based internationally.

CREST.BD continues to grow extend its media platform through multiple successful and ongoing new media projects including CREST.BD\xe2\x80\x99s annual World Bipolar Day \xe2\x80\x9cAsk Me Anything\xe2\x80\x9d, the largest Q&A event for bipolar disorder ever held - generating 2.6 million views and attracting a team of over 40 international bipolar disorder experts in 2022. The ongoing #TalkBD livestream and podcast initiative has also further positioned CREST.BD as a top online resource for bipolar disorder, attracting bipolar disorder experts to join the team, and reaching even more people living with bipolar disorder, their supporters and healthcare providers.

The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day to day research activities, content creation for CREST.BD programs, as well as the new media and website development and activities related to these projects.

Organizational Status
The Manager will report directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Erin Michalak, and will be directly involved in the supervision of research staff and volunteers.

Work Performed

Planning, managing, and implementing communications for CREST.BD, including priority and goal setting (social media, newsletter, websites, podcasts)

Participating in the development of long-term CREST.BD communications strategies

Responding to media and individual inquiries with the goal of facilitating liaison to individual team members as appropriate

Developing graphic design and written content for CREST.BD communications and platforms, reviewing research, and promoting CREST.BD and associated projects as a source of expertise in bipolar disorder.

Identifying and engaging with content contributors with lived experience of bipolar disorder, researchers, and healthcare providers (guest speakers and panelists for TalkBD/CREST.BD Bipolar Blog/World Bipolar Day events)

Developing and executing content review process for digital publishing to crestbd.ca, TalkBD.live, and podcast and video platforms

Managing the crestbd.ca and TalkBD.live web site using Wordpress, HTML, CSS

Providing full-cycle graphic design for the website, from concept creation, to design and implementation using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Analysing and presenting data on website traffic using Google Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager

Analysing and presenting data on social media/podcast reach and traffic across various platforms

Developing and managing advertising using platforms including Reddit Ads, Twitter Ads, Facebook Ads and Google Adwords

Developing and implementing overall SEO (search engine optimization) strategies for CREST.BD websites

Providing UX (user experience) expertise to manage and improve content and ease of use of CREST.BD websites across different user platforms

Identifying and facilitating community partnerships (internal to UBC and external; national and international) and collaborations with key stakeholders (individuals and organizations)

Identifying grant/funding opportunities, supporting the drafting and submission of grant applications

Liaising with multiple contractors (individuals and organizations), soliciting estimates, submitting for approval, managing execution of work

Creating roles for and managing volunteers

Functioning as central communication point for digital CREST.BD projects

Developing long-term budgeting and fundraising goals

Preparing, submitting, managing, and forecasting financial/budget information

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The position must exercise a significant amount of independent judgment, responsibility and initiative in determining work procedures and methods, and coordinating work on the project. Errors made in this position can impede the progress of the project and cause adverse relationships with partners, decision makers, and funding agencies and may compromise the positive promotion of the project. Errors or incorrect decisions could potentially result in delays in completing the project or seriously compromise the quality of the research.

Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Principal Investigator with minimal daily supervision. Performance is assessed based on the achievement of project objectives and goals. Works with the Principal Investigator in the development of short- and long-term goals for the project.

Supervision Given
Provides supervision to two or more research assistants and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Postgraduate qualifications or Masters\xe2\x80\x99 degree in Health or Social Sciences would be desirable.

Expertise in web-based technologies is essential.

Experience in project management

Knowledge and expertise in mental health communications and mental health research is essential

Training and experience in conducting interviews and focus groups would be beneficial

Knowledge of research design and methodology

Expertise in knowledge translation

Advanced skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases (i.e. MS word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) is essential

Strong skills in Adobe Creative software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Expertise with Wordpress, HTML, and CSS is essential.

Familiarity with Google Analytics, web advertising, and search engine optimization is essential.

Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact, discretion and sensitivity

Excellent oral and written communication, as well as excellent content writing and research skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with equal proficiency in inter-professional communication and communications with participants

Effective organizational skills and ability to maintain attention to detail

Ability to provide supervision, solve problems, and be self-directed.
