The Operations / Project Manager leads and oversees landscape construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations. This role manages crews, subcontractors, materials, and client communication while driving operational efficiency and profitability.
Plan, schedule, and manage landscape construction projects including site preparation, hardscape and softscape installation, and irrigation.
Coordinate resources, crew assignments, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
Develop and maintain project budgets, track costs, and control spending to hit margin targets.
Lead daily project meetings and pre-job briefings to set expectations and ensure safety compliance.
Oversee quality assurance by inspecting work and ensuring it complies with design specs and company standards.
Serve as primary client liaison on projects--communicate progress, address issues, and manage expectations.
Collaborate with sales, design, and operations teams to ensure smooth project handoffs and alignment.
Proactively identify project risks (weather, materials, manpower) and implement mitigation plans.
Maintain operational activities within company safety policies and local regulations.
Use project management software (such as LMN) to document progress and communicate effectively.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven landscape construction industry experience, including management of installation crews and subcontractors.
Strong project management skills: scheduling, budgeting, risk mitigation, and team leadership.
Excellent communication and client management abilities.
Proficient with construction estimating and project management software platforms.
Knowledge of landscape materials, hardscaping, irrigation, lighting, and planting best practices.
Ability to problem-solve with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
Leadership skills to motivate crews, enforce safety, and maintain high performance.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and physically able to handle jobsite demands.
Preferred:
Formal project management certification or equivalent.
Experience with LeanScaper or similar landscape operating systems.
Familiarity with LMN Software
