Position Summary



We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to help lay the foundations for our budding Alberta team. As this branch is in its infancy and the nature of the environment in which we conduct business, the role will likely start primarily in business development as relationships are yet to be established, and shift over time to a settle into the rhythm of standard project management.

Key Responsibilities



Phase 1 -- Market Entry & Business Development



Build the pipeline: Create and maintain a target list of adjusters, GCs, and property managers; book intro meetings and site walks; log all activity in PSA/CRM. Estimate & win work: Develop scopes, takeoffs, and proposals; present and follow up to close; hand off cleanly to delivery. Stand up the supply chain: Prequalify subcontractors, set rate sheets, align on safety and quality standards, and establish scheduling/communication norms. Brand presence: Represent Bender at industry events and site meetings; cultivate referrals and online reviews. Systems & templates: Set up estimating, site-report, and closeout templates; ensure consistent documentation from day one.

Phase 2 -- Project Delivery & Portfolio Management



Plan & schedule

: Build job plans, critical paths, and labor/equipment schedules; coordinate with the Project Coordinator to assign crews and book materials.

Field leadership:

Conduct kickoff meetings, site check-ins, toolbox talks; enforce OHS/WHMIS, site safety, and housekeeping standards.

Quality control

: Perform inspections at key milestones; manage punch lists; close deficiencies quickly to finish to standard.

Commercial controls

: Track budgets, POs, and change orders; maintain real-time job costing and margin; approve vendor/sub invoices.

Client communication

: Issue concise updates, site notes, and photos; manage expectations, RFIs, and call-backs professionally.

Closeout & cash

: Compile closeout packages, submit invoices promptly, manage holdbacks and lien releases in coordination with accounting.

Continuous (Both Phases)



Reporting cadence

: Maintain weekly WIP and look-ahead schedules; forecast revenue/backlog and flag risks early.

Process improvement

: Capture lessons learned, refine templates, and improve PSA/Proven Jobs usage and data hygiene.

People & partners

: Help recruit/onboard field staff and subs; coach for safety, quality, and documentation discipline.

Self-managed schedule

: Own your calendar--balance site time, client meetings, and deep work; be responsive within agreed SLAs.

Qualifications



The ideal candidate brings experience in business development / sales, a go getter attitude, and relevant construction experience.

Required



5+ years' project management in construction or restoration (drywall, painting, finish carpentry). Proven business development: networking, building a pipeline, and winning work with adjusters, GCs, and property managers. Estimating & takeoffs from site walks and drawings (Xactimate, PlanSwift, Bluebeam or similar); strong change-order and job-costing discipline. Multi-project scheduling and execution (manage 5-15 small/medium jobs concurrently) with on-time delivery to finish to standard. Working knowledge of Alberta construction practices, insurance-repair workflows, and basic Builders' Lien/holdback norms. Safety competence: Alberta OHS awareness; current First Aid & WHMIS Software fluency: Microsoft 365; project/scheduling tools PSA/Proven Jobs or similar is an asset. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle capable of transporting light materials; clean driver's abstract.

Preferred / Assets



Existing relationships in Calgary/Edmonton with adjusters, restoration PMs, property managers. ICRC (e.g., WRT/FSRT), Red Seal trade background, PMP or CCA Gold Seal (GSC). Familiarity with MPI painting standards and GA-214 drywall finish levels (Level 4/5). Experience launching a new territory/branch and building a team (hiring, coaching, subcontractor management). Ability to read construction drawings and write clear site notes, reports, and client updates.

Sharp time-management, documentation, and attention to detail; calm under pressure. Physically able to perform site walks and occasional light material handling (up to ~50 lbs).

Compensation & Benefits



Pay



Salary

: $65,000-$85,000 base plus variable bonus.
