Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Project Manager provides leadership and guidance in the execution of projects and initiatives through an integrated multi-disciplinary team approach that strives for innovation, excellence, equality, and efficiency. The types of Projects may include but are not limited to the Accessible Transportation Regulation (ATSR) of the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA). The project manager will coordinate and lead a cross-functional team to implement various initiatives across multiple ATSR and Transit Department areas, ensuring compliance with the regulations. This position will manage projects throughout the project's life cycle while ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality, and organizational performance.
The Project Manager will plan, manage, provide direction, monitoring, and oversight throughout the project and implement it, ensuring accessibility requirements are integrated into all aspects. This position is expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including public engagements, with customers and agencies representing individuals with disabilities and older adults.
The Project Manager will work with the Project Sponsor to plan, deliver and transfer the project to the Business Owner.
As the Project Manager you will:
• Provide project management expertise and guidance to the Department to successfully complete and/or implement projects and departmental initiatives, while achieving the benefits of the investment.
• Develop and manage the procurement process which includes solicitation and contract administration tasks.
• Manage the Design Management process.
• Develop Business Cases and Investment Strategies per the Investment Planning Manual.
• Coordinate and oversee the Project Turnover process.
Your education and qualifications include:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation/Prince II certification.
• Bachelor's Degree in public sector management, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience managing major projects related to accessibility standards, including transportation, would be an asset.
• Any of the following professionally accessible certifications - CPACC, CPWA, ADS, WAS, CPABE, would be considered an asset.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience related to the duties listed above in maintaining compliance with standards and regulations including knowledge of accessibility standards (AMA, ADA, AODA, CSA) and Project Delivery, preferably in a public sector environment.
• Knowledge in transportation, including the paratransit industry sector, and familiarity with universal design principles and their application in transportation projects that apply to the department.
• Experience with strategic planning and innovation at a senior level, including managing complex organizational change, implementing new technologies and design approaches that improve accessibility in transportation systems, and determining and setting priorities based on organizational mandates and initiatives.
• Experience providing strategic advice, ethical judgment, leadership, and guidance to Senior Management on multiple projects/programs including complex capital projects.
• Experience with supervision and management of consultants and contractors
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and circumstances as well as the ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments.
• Previous experience managing and leading projects including organizing, coordinating, planning, and maintaining schedules and controlling a large number of projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability and experience with Microsoft Office Suite including experience with Project Management Systems such as Microsoft Project or similar software.
• Demonstrated commitment towards continuous learning, growth, and the achievement of high performance.
