Job Title: Project Manager

Our client is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee small Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in project management with a strong background in construction projects. This role requires managing budgets and contracts effectively, with prior exposure to the transmission and distribution industries or experience working with a general contractor on industrial projects. Projects may reach up to 500 kV, primarily involving tie-ins to renewable sites. The successful candidate will manage one major project alongside several smaller ones, ranging from $50,000 to $10 million.
Responsibilities

• Manage up to 10 small to medium-sized projects concurrently.
• Oversee budget and schedule, ensuring timely completion of projects.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders, including project coordinators and office administrators.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor the execution of projects, focusing on transmission and distribution aspects.
• Utilize expertise in substation and generation to enhance project outcomes.
• Travel as required for project oversight, primarily within Alberta and British Columbia.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Manager with a general contracting company.
• Experience in construction management from a project management standpoint.
• Proven track record of managing medium-sized projects lasting up to 5 months.
• Background in transmission, distribution, and utilities, including civil components like pilings.
• Proficiency in budget oversight and scheduling, with some knowledge of P6 software.
• Technical expertise or fieldwork experience.
• Strong skills in Excel and project management software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with powerlines and MS Projects.
• Engineering background, preferably with a P.Eng designation.

Work Environment
The position requires spending 70-80% of the time in the office, with the flexibility to work from home when necessary. There will be weeks away from the office, spanning 2-3 months, primarily for project oversight. The role involves travel, with approximately 30% of the time spent on the road, potentially increasing to 50% during major projects. A company vehicle will be provided, and pool vehicles are available for travel. Most work will be concentrated in Alberta and British Columbia, with additional projects in Washington State and the Yukon. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of four Project Managers and three Project Coordinators.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
