JOB SUMMARY

Assurance & Standards oversees Capital Project delivery practices including the development and maintenance of City design and construction standards and guidelines, project and quality management processes; development, implementation and reporting of project and construction quality assurance and engineering standards; and the Quality Management System.


You provide a liaison function and technical assistance in various aspects for the coordination, administration and monitoring of Infrastructure Services projects and contracts through the design and construction phase of a project.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2 year community college program in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or equivalent


Minimum of 5 years of related design and construction experience

KNOWLEDGE

Basic principles of sewer, water, roadway, structures, construction practices Awareness of various stages of project management to understand the correlation of costs with various phases of the project OPSS, MTO, MOE and city standards and specifications Computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, MAP and Computer Aided Design software) Municipal working environment, including departmental, council and committee structure Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

Communicating effectively with the public, professionals, elected officials and contractors Ability to prepare clear and concise technical report Ability to interpret and compile data and statistics in an organized format Strong communication, organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal skills Neat and legible writing skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement. Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements. Please save a copy of the job poster.
