Position Highlights
BC Hydro is seeking experienced and practical electrical, mechanical and civil engineers (3 total) at a junior, intermediate or
senior level with an interest and background in installation, maintenance and repair of utility and/or industrial equipment to
join the Site C Project team as we transition the project from construction to operations.
This opportunity is based out of Fort St. John and is targeted to those individuals who thrive on solving problems and want
to grow their expertise in the areas of hydropower generating stations and spillways, and BC Hydro's operations and
maintenance processes.
As part of Site C engineering team, the successful candidate(s) will support the project team with the rectification of project
deficiencies and the handover process between the project and BC Hydro's operations and asset management teams.
What you'll do
The successful candidates will act as the technical lead at site, on behalf of the Vancouver-based engineering team, to
support integration of the Site C maintenance program for the assets at the facility. The successful candidate(s) will
collaborate closely with the resident field maintenance engineers to:
provide input to the maintenance planning process;
work collaboratively with the construction management team to help align maintenance activities that could occur at the
same time as deficiency rectification activity (for example, if both activities require an equipment outage);
update project documentation based upon learnings from first-time-use (maintenance program, maintenance instructions,
work procedures, spare parts lists, manuals, etc.);
provide technical support to the construction management team for maintenance and troubleshooting, including leading
root cause analysis for equipment failures or issues;
provide technical support to the construction management team for knowledge transfer and training activities for the
permanent facility maintenance personnel; and
Bachelor's degree or advanced education in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
Experience level:
Junior (P1) applicants require a minimum of 1 year of progressive engineering experience; and
Intermediate (P2) applicants require a minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience; and
Senior (P3) applicants require a minimum of 8 years of progressive engineering experience.
Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
Experience with industrial process maintenance engineering is an asset, with preference given to experience in the
hydroelectric industry.
Experience working on engineering projects within BC Hydro is an asset.
Demonstrated skills and experience working in a highly collaborative team environment.
Strong collaboration, interpersonal and relationship skills.
Excellent ability to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in technical writing with managers, engineers,
and tradespeople.
Ambitious and enthusiastic with a positive can-do attitude.
Demonstrated initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated desire for learning and development.
Inter-disciplinary experience is an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint).
Valid BC Driver's license.

*This is rotational opportunity for 12 to 24 months. We may hire up to three (3) positions.
*Please note that although this is an FTT position, FTR internal applicants would maintain their BC Hydro FTR status, and
their base job will be held for them while they are on this rotation.
This opportunity requires flexibility to work a 14 day on, 7 day off shift schedule at the Fort St. John Site C construction
site. Other shifts may be discussed during the interview process.
Applicants who do not meet the full qualifications or those with lesser work experience may be considered for a lower
level position.
