The Project Lead, is accountable for the delivery of the Harbour Centre Pier remediation project, characterized as multi-year in duration, often involving substantial safety and regulatory requirements with many internal and external interactions, contracts requiring substantial negotiation of terms and conditions, having many work packages, resources, and interfaces to manage, and involving a significant financial commitment (more than $100 million).

The PHAI is a federal initiative to clean-up low-level radioactive waste in Port Hope and Clarington. The project involves remediating contaminated sites and consolidating the wastes in an engineered mound in the community. The PHAI Project has a very high public profile and is a top priority for the Government of Canada and the Port Hope area communities.

What will you be doing!

  • Plan, organize, lead, and control the integration of all work areas and disciplines within the project effectively.
  • Implement project management tools, methods, and best practices to plan and manage projects in a way that aligns with the expectations of stakeholders and meets business needs.
  • Ensure all designs and work plans incorporate safety, quality, health, and the environment.
  • Robust managing change in scope, schedule, costs, and impact to stakeholders against the project baseline
  • Identify project risks and barriers and the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Report and regularly interface with the senior management and clients regarding project status updates and expectations.
  • Balance and determine project priorities and the division of responsibilities.
  • Execute the contract and procurement strategy. Understands contracts requiring substantial negotiation of terms and conditions, having many work packages, resources, and interfaces to manage.
  • Accountable for leading a team of CNL staff, consultants, and contractors in remediation of the LLRW and industrial waste on the site(s)
  • Builds and sustains a positive, inclusive, work environment.
  • Motivates team to deliver quality results on time and on budget.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities and set goals. Manage performance of collective and individual team members, through objectives and feedback.
  • Mentor, coach, and instruct team members for success on project management, leadership, business delivery.
  • Ensuring all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhere to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
What we are looking for :

Education:

A degree or diploma from a college/university relevant to construction project management, civil, geotechnical, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent, and a track record for leading large projects from definition, budgeting, design, through to construction.

Security Requirements:

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.

CNL\xe2\x80\x99s Historic Waste Program Management Office is in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope , Ontario . Roughly 100 km East of Toronto, still close enough to the \xe2\x80\x9cBig City\xe2\x80\x9d without all the hassle of being in the \xe2\x80\x9cBig City\xe2\x80\x9d. As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low-Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.
