We are a fast-growing organization, currently seeking a Project Leader to be a part of our high-achieving, diverse, innovating team and join our consulting firm.

The Opportunity

The Project Leader is a consultant role that is crucial to a project\'s success. The role encompasses planning, managing and completing multiple projects of varying complexity and risk to the full satisfaction of project customers.

Our ideal candidate would have 5-10 years progressive experience and resulting knowledge of applying 9 Project Management Areas (Scope, Cost, Time, QA, Communications, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, and Integration) to medium-risk projects.

This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

Manage the delivery of medium-risk S&T projects to meet schedule, cost, quality and safety objectives to the full satisfaction of customers.

Project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with project stakeholders to define the scope of the project, deliverables and timing.

Secure resources through resource/functional managers to execute the project.

Manage and report on project performance to stakeholders and management. Lead the ongoing delivery of project objectives including setting project related performance objectives, providing regular feedback and guidance to project staff.

Establish and administer project budgets and schedules and approve changes to scope of work within project management guidelines.

Manage project risk with regular review with development of mitigation strategies and escalation to Management, as required.

Conduct monthly review of project performance using the corporate systems and explain variances and action plans to address the same.

Create and deliver effective professional presentations to internal and external audiences, consistently at senior level levels.

Negotiate with suppliers, contractors and internal staff, to ensure project phases are delivered on time, within budget and at the customer\xe2\x80\x99s expected level of delivery/quality.

Reports on project performance to clients, management and other project stakeholders.

Manages client expectations and satisfaction throughout the project\xe2\x80\x99s duration.

Financial Decision Making: Using good knowledge of business and management principles is involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with internal clients to define the scope of the project, deliverables and timing.

Approves project scope of work and determines project priorities and division of responsibilities.

Provide guidance and direction on decisions affecting project performance.

Utilize critical thinking to develop solutions to address competing interests of stakeholders and project objectives and uses sound judgment when considering the impact of decisions on the scope, cost, schedule and quality of project.

Build and lead multi-disciplinary project team(s) to deliver the project objectives and set project-related performance objectives by providing regular feedback and guidance to project staff assigned to the project.

Responsible for motivating project participants to deliver quality results on time and on budget.

Qualifications & Education:

Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing, OR membership in an Engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization, OR a certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Experience: 5-10 years progressive experience and resulting knowledge of applying 9 Project Management Areas (Scope, Cost, Time, QA, Communications, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, and Integration) to medium-risk projects.

Experience in R&D projects is an asset.

Experience managing many projects over one large project is an asset.

Ability to nurture and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with a moderate number of stakeholders, project teams, and managers.

Ability to build and sustain multiple moderately sized teams; typically between 6 and 12 members per team.

Ability to develop a coherent project proposal with input from project team members regarding scope, schedule, and cost, identifying and closing gaps and omissions in that input, in accordance with good project management practices and lessons learned.

Ability to negotiate for resources, whether internally or with external customers.

Ability to understand the relative priority of the projects, and to make recommendations and decisions that align with those priorities.

A thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, leadership techniques and coordination of resources.

Excellent knowledge of procurement and financial processes.

Experience with Microsoft Suite Applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook).

Excellent knowledge and demonstrated experience in application of negotiation skills.

Demonstrated experience in application of contract administration.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction. Must be self-motivated to achieving desired objectives through deliberate planning and execution of work tasks.

Ability to nurture and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with a moderate number of internal and some external contacts.

Must be willing to travel to client sites as required.

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada, and must be based in Toronto, or GTA area, or willing to relocate.

This role is a full-time, non-remote position based in Toronto Ontario.
